GRAND LEDGER

ledger.jpg
Quite possibly the most boring threads on the entire Europa Universalis boards, the Grand Ledger threads contain all the old questions and answers posts from the RPG's Inscriptions and General Questions and National Stats threads.

This material has only been archived because of it's potential use in clearing up disputes that occur with the RPG. I strongly advise the casual reader to find something altogether more interesting to browse. ;)

OK, I just spoke to Schlieff on MSN, and he assures me he'll be guiding you through your first foot-steps as Bavaria. Please also take the time to have a look at KingWittelsbach's old Bavarian court (it's near the bottom of the first page of the forum) which will give you an idea of Bavaria's recent, in-game history.

Please once again visit the National Statistics thread and make a post informing our resident Nat Stats man Bloody American what your new nation is and also what name you have chosen for it's head of state. Now you're ready to post your stupendous court thread!

Please also adopt the avatar of the realm you've been granted, to help other players to recognise which nation you're now playing.

Welcome to the game!

Josef :)

JG - I'm not sure why my friend (Bavaria) is inactive right now. I haven't seen him on MSN or recieved any phone calls since a few days ago, so he may be on an unexpected trip or something. If this isn't the case I'll inform you, but for now don't kick him yet. (The advantage to knowing the people in the game - you know if they're lazy or really gone. ;) )

Sure, no worries. I usually give 'em roughly two weeks, so he's got plenty of time to sort his act out. Thanks for the heads up :)

WANTED

TREATIES MANAGER

Folks,

BA has found out the hard way that, what with his demanding real-life work schedule, his role as France and the Nat Stats and RPG map editing, he simply does not have the time the treaties-slot in the stats requires.

With this in mind, I ask one of you fine people to step forward and volunteer yourself for the job of maintaining a 'treaties' post within the National Stats thread.

If you think you have the skills and self-discipline a task like this requires, please email me at josefgiven@hotmail.com with your reasons why you think you're up to the task. I shall be asking UD to grant the person who gets the job a funky, custom title, but that's it, I'm afraid. As per the forum rules, I am not permitted to personally offer any poster full modship.

Full details of the job's duties will be given to the successful applicant.

Go on, give us a hand!

Josef :)

Small question. I was discussing with Jaron last night about Savoie. Fireblade mentionned he was was having connection problems and was leaving the control of Savoie temporarily to Jaron as Constantinople. Can we leave the control of a country to anyone when we leave on a temporary basis when we're a vassal or do we expect the overlord to control the vassal?
BB,

Whoever got control of the vassal would need to show it's overlord the proper homage. Like everthing else in the game, each case needs to be taken on it's own merit.

Is it assumed that peacetime regeneration, replacing lost armies in times of peace and all that. Is still handeled in the Nat Stats thread?

I'm assuming it is, because unless you are in a war, you have no business sending such things to KW.
This is something I overlooked when I typed up the new battles protocol, but it's beginning to look increasingly like we'll need to issue peace-time regeneration-expenditures the way you've set out: in the Nat Stats.

Das Heer,

Give BA a bit more time to update the stats, there's still a full day before the end of the turn.

Josef :)

general question

According to Josef, If I borrowed about twice my starting econ I would be in danger of getting an inflation event. Here are my stats and I'd like the opinion of Josef, the event mod, and anyone else.

OK. Byzantium-->2 econ
-1 loan to novgorod

+1 econ loan from savoy
+1 econ loan from gelre

Now..that means I have 2 econ.

Can I borrow money against loans given out? Since Novgorod is unable to repay me, can i say borrow an extra econ point since I am down one originally.

really this is how it should look:

2 econ: base
1 econ: -1 loan to novgorod
2 econ: +1 savoy loan
0 econ: +2 landmil
1 econ: +1 gelre

so i should be able to safely borrow 2 more econ before inflation sets in...or I at least am at risk of it.

Am I right or wrong?

by my calculation i should be able to fully borrow 4 econ points since I loaned one since it gives me the same purchasing power as if i never loaned that econ out.

example: 2 econ + 3 loans = 1 econ less than double my starting econ borrowed.

my situation: 1 econ point + 4 loans = 1 extra loan due to 1 less econ.

in both cases the amount of stuff I can buy is 5.

Jury?

Hmm, a messy one, Jaron. :D

OK. Byzantium-->2 econ
-1 loan to novgorod

+1 econ loan from savoy
+1 econ loan from gelre

Now..that means I have 2 econ.
Surely 3 econ, if you started with 2, lent out 1 (-1), then borrowed another 2 (+2).

I would suggest to PGD that money that you have loaned out in the past has a deflationary effect upon your economy and your creditors should bear in mind that you are unable to regenerate the 1 econ point you have loaned out until Novgorod pays it back.

This is another one of those weird things that can happen with the rules system, but I would say that every econ point loaned out is one step down on the inflation ladder and every econ borrowed is one step up.

So, on balance, you've borrowed 2 and loaned 1, which means that you've got outstanding loan commitments of 1 for the purposes of inflation.

So, your starting econ is 2, you've got loan commitments of 1 hanging over your head, which means if you borrow any more econ, you're in the inflation danger-zone.

Phew, hope that clears things up (lol)

Josef :D

Hi,

I posted a request to play the Qara Qoyunlu in this thread, but since I haven't gotten a reply, and said thread has been cleaned up, I'm just making sure it hasn't been missed...

General question

Byzantium rests at 2/1/2/5/1

since the former capital was ceded and it has to be moved, do I lose the -1 hit for capital being in enemy hands?

also battle of thrace hit me with -1 til end of the war. Since my war with the horde is over, is that gone? I am still at war with Athens because they declared war on me.

If both of those hits are removed:

I should be: 2/1/4/5/1

Unless someone here can correct me. .

With those stats I can start to begin the slow healing process in Morea.......i need high(er) morale to deal with the plague and all.. :)

I may or may not have electricity for the remainder of the week. It's kind of a tossup. I should be back at 100% participation by Monday. I'll try to make sure I get battle orders in, so I can at least put up a fight for the Barbarian Hordes of Venice. ;)

Question: Seeing as Muscovy is now NPC, and Euro-Maniac is playing Portugal...what exactly happens to my loan? Does it go to the bank? Do I regenerate economy this turn? Do I have to have it paid back somehow?
