I haven't been playing nearly as long as you... (Hell, you were my Steward a year ago )

However, as the rules page is rather dated, I feel the need to ask:

Wasn't it that both countries had to be NPC for a treaty to be cancelled?

Aragon never went NPC, as Praetor was just moved from Sicily to Aragon as a stand in...

My guess is that 'substitute' players would not count, but permanent transfers would.

Regarding Corfu; The treaty was signed by players, but appearantly not carried out. As such, we can assume that the treaty was signed by both rulers as well, but still not carried out. It can be used IC by interested parties, but unless the current players of Venice and Aragon agress, Corfu does not change hands.

Note that this does not set precedence; Once land is transferred as a result of a treaty or war, it remains under the new control, even if the nations involved later changes players.

Regarding treaties: Old treaties are broken pr. default when a new players takes over a nation, and the player will have to confirm, by IC-actions, that he still respects the treaties. Players of other nations are encouraged to send friendly reminders to the new player of the treaties, and are certainly allowed to react as appropiate should the new player choose to ignore old treaties.
