Hello lads.

Since my Lithuania game sort of fell apart at the end, I'd like to play something that is a bit dearer to my heart and perhaps more my speed. Not to mention, my area of expertise.

Naples!

Sure. Naples it is.

You know the vassalage, and what it means, so I'll spare you the warning, and just give you the welcoming speech:

Please once again visit the National Statistics thread and make a post informing our resident Nat Stats man Mettermrck what your new realm is and what name you have chosen for it's head of state. Now you're ready to post your stupendous court thread!

Please choose between your new role in the Medieval RPG and any role you may have in the 1515 game and adopt that role’s avatar. Either way, please include a mention of your new role in the Medieval RPG in your signature.

We ask that you do not use instant messaging programs like MSN, ICQ and AIM to discuss deals and alliances for the purposes of the game. Doing so generally leads to animosity, mistrust and a lowering of role-playing standards. Unless an RPG Steward is trying to contact you in order to help you understand the game better, it would be better for all concerned if you politely avoid talking about your role in the RPG with other, active players. The forum’s message-posting and private messaging (PM) systems should be all you’ll ever need to play the game.

I approve of this. She has the right to RP and make up any character she wants, with the exception of Rene d'Anjou, his family, and the Viceroy. :)

And after further discussion, consider this an application for sub-playing Naples :p

SQ

Welcome back. It's been a long time, but once again it's proven that once you've tasted the EU:M RPG, you cannot stay away.

Application granted, subject to the folowing rules for subordinate players:

  • The subordinate character may not issue battle orders or DoWs, or utilise the stats of his realm in any way, including for the purpose of events.
  • The subordinate character must use the HoS player’s court-thread as his character’s base, but cannot exercise powers of arrest there.
  • The subordinate character may not sign treaties on behalf of his HoS.
  • The subordinate character speaks on behalf of his HoS, and the HoS character is responsible for his subordinate’s comments.
  • The HoS may exercise powers of arrest upon the subordinate character, as per the ‘Arrest Rules Clarification’ which can be found in the Vault and a link to which can be found in the Rules thread.

Kindly make a post in the Nat.Stats, stating that you're now subordinate player for Naples, and the name and title of your main subordinate character.

I am intrested in joing. Can I ask which nation you think should be taken first because I think it would be best to get the most needed first and then the minor. I would preferably like a meduim-sized state. Where is the list anything? Is it under National States and if so are they the "grey-coloured" ones I assume? And how can I find how many provinces they have because sometimes it is hard to find them on the map. Is Orleans still open? Or Croatia?

Grey colored nations are ones that don't exist. Sorry. :(

Constant play-- grayed out countries are available if they are listed as owning provinces, otherwise they no longer exist or are part of some larger entity (Athens, Auvergne, and Austria come to mind).

Is there a place for a totally new player to take over the protectorship of the Holy Places and act as the Sultan of the Hedjaz?

I've been playing the Eutopia RPG for a month or two, and lots of other pen-and-paper RPGs for the last 20 years or so.

Thanks.

V.

Alright that makes sense now. Thanks for the info. I will try to find a nice land now. When are the next orders due, saturday? So, what about Bourbonnais it says under papal control but can you still play it?

The EU:M does not use a so strict system as the 1558 RPG. Here, orders are needed only when you're in war. Events may be requested at any time.

Nonetheless, the turn will end Saturday indeed, but that does not effect statistics unless they aren't maxed out (and almost every NPC-country starts with maxed stats).

Oh great, well I have a week to learn the system, right? How does the co-player work could you please explain that?
Don't worry, as the mechanical effects are used mostly during wars (and I suppose you wouldn't start a war in a week), you'll have plenty of time to learn the system :).

As for the co-playership: the co-player controls only a few characters of the realm, all are subjects to the primal player of the country. A co-player doesn't have right to send battle-orders, neither to sign treaties in the NatStats on behalf of her country, so, in short, it's an RP-only role.

As for the Bourbonnais: as far as I understand, the "French vassal (under Papal control)"-thing was set in 1427, after Savoy and B. attacked France. After a short war in which half of Europe participated against the two realms, the Bourbon Dukes were stripped of their titles, and the handling of the administration of the state was given to the Church. However, the Bourbonnais remained an independent state, and a vassal of France. Jaron, Fireblade, BusterBunny or KingWittelsbach could surely tell much more about this (I wasn't here, they were). Furthermore, the previous players didn't seem to play this Papal-control thing. If taking Bourbonnais, you should definitely consult with the French and Papal players.

(EDIT: according to information provided by Principe Eugenio, the thing is not in effect anymore)

Anyway, B. is certainly playable. However, it is a vassal-state, and should be played so. A vassal always has got to give full and unconditional suppot to her overlord, etc, etc, etc. Breach of vassalage is generally not encouraged. Some may find this too hard to live with (while I personally think it's nice to play a vassal).

EDIT:
it seems I ransacked the Vault needlessly . And actually spammed the thread :eek:o

Anyway, as Aquitania, too, is a vassal, my little speech about the vassalage is valid. Either way, please, kindly wait for BzAli to return and approve your application :)

I've been strongly advised against running the Hedjaz. So, I'll throw my hat in the ring for Ireland or the Mamluks. Which would be more useful to have a PC running? I'd be happy with either.

Thanks,

V.
