By the way, that policy of the Imperial Commerce Commission was struck down in a Reichskammergericht case, since it was deemed to be an unreasonable burden on free trade. I can find the case, if you all like.

But now for my real purpose. I'd like to apply to play the Archbishopric of Mainz as Cardinal-Archbishop Rainmund von Wittelsbach who is technically BB's character, but who was made Cardinal-Archbishop of Mainz by Molleby's Pope. I fully understand my role as a vassal and more importantly as a member of the House of Wittelsbach and as King Frederick of Epirus's uncle.

I think this'll require Bz's and BB's approval.

I had promised Lad that I would hold on to Mainz for him, but you seem a worthy contender to him.
So, poor Lad will have to find somewhere else to make his re-entry, and you, good man, will be welcomed with open arms to the community that is the EU: M RPG. Mainz it is. :D

Please once again visit the National Statistics thread and make a post informing our resident Nat Stats man AugCaesar what your new realm is and what name you have chosen for it's head of state. Now you're ready to post your stupendous court thread!

Please choose between your new role in the Medieval RPG and any role you may have in the 1515 game and adopt that role’s avatar. Either way, please include a mention of your new role in the Medieval RPG in your signature.

We ask that you do not use instant messaging programs like MSN, ICQ and AIM to discuss deals and alliances for the purposes of the game. Doing so generally leads to animosity, mistrust and a lowering of role-playing standards. Unless an RPG Steward is trying to contact you in order to help you understand the game better, it would be better for all concerned if you politely avoid talking about your role in the RPG with other, active players. The forum’s message-posting and private messaging (PM) systems should be all you’ll ever need to play the game.

Hello. I would like to join your RPG game, which I find most interesting. I am a friend of Robert (or Mettermrck). What is a good country for someone like myself? I have recently bought the computer game though I am very inexperienced. I also have a good knowledge of this period of history. Thank you.

First of all be sure you have read the rules. Secondly it depends on your free time. If you want a little active country then select some german, if you want less active country select some italian if there is some left or french if there is any left. Anyway don't expect mods to give you any important country for now,but there is no important left anyway. National statistics will help you decide.

Dewey, welcome. :)

If you want lots of room to grow your RP potential and be fairly unique I would suggest an Orthodox nation and/or a balkan one. The Muslim Hedaj is also open I think if you are interested in Islamic roleplaying in a fairly secure if isolated place. :)

Hi Dewey, and welcome aboard.

You will find that experience from the computer game does not count for much in here, as the CG's focus is mainly on conquest and expansion, whereas these two elements, though important, are not the primary motivations in this game.

Questions such as this should be asked in the Lounge, as they often invite to general discussion, which I would prefer to keep away from this thread. The best course of action would proparbly be to aks Mett's advice, as he knows you, know how much time you are ready to invest, and have a very good knowlegde of this game.
When you have decided upon a country, either by advice from Mett or by discussion in the Lounge, kindly post so in here, and it will most likely be granted. As a newcomer, you can not expect to be given control over any nation with more then 3 provinces, so kindly stay below that limit.

Hello again. After further consideration, and much help from people in the game, I have decided to choose Tver to play.

Welcome to Russia, then. I know some players who'll be very pleased witht his choice.

However, as Holstein was never invited, formally and rule-wise, in Nat.Stats., to the CETP, Holstein is not technicly a member of that union either. So Holstein is without membership of any trade union, allthough I think we can safely assume the duke of Holstein is much closer to the CETP than the Hansa.
A question.

Now, Holstein did confirm it's membership in NatStats, so what does it take to be considered a member of a trade union? Is there another step or something? I've never been a part of one, and so am not entirely certain...

As with any other alliance, the signing parties both need to make an official post in this thread, stating their intent to sign.

As the version of the CETP posted here (top of the page) only calls for Baden, Wurzburg, Saxony and Bavaria to sign, and as neither of these parties later mentions Holstein as being invited, even going so far as green_alien posting, after Etienne Martel having posted his entry into the CETP (uninvited, that is):

Mechanical effects: Defence alliance and trade agreement between Baden, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Saxony and Wurzburg (for now )
it'll be clear that Holstein was never invited to the CETP in the Nat.Stats.

As such, stat-wise, Holstein is not a member of that alliance.
RP-wise, Holstein can be considered a member of the CETP, all here knows that Bremen certainly does.

Mind that by the same token, Brandenburd also is not, stat-wise, consider a member of the CETP. A nation needs to be invited to an alliance before it can join!

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks, Bz. :)

So let this be a lesson, all.

Bz: Brandenburg was invited and confirmed treaty in national statistics considerably lower on the page. About my post I added only mechanical effects as I completely forgot IKK posted it already and I confirmed.

Bandman, Bocaj, Green_Alien and Kent I Wallmi should confirm

mechanical effects: Trade agreement, Defencive alliance and non-agression pact between Wurzburg, Saxony, Bavaria, Brandeburg and Baden,
this is a quote when I posted in the NAT stat
