Hussite heresy

huszita_04.gif

For too long has the evil plant of heresy taken root in the rich lands of Bohemia. For decades now have the souls of the righteous been poisoned by the words of the fallen. Thrice now has Bohemia confronted the power of its rightful ruler the Emperor and twice beneath the sign of the chalice, instead of the cross on which Our Lord has been crucified. For too long have the people of Bohemia waged war in the shadow of heresy. Have they repented their past sins and found the one true path to salvation and abandoned the wicked trails of devilry? The Benedictine monks sent to investigate by the Palatinate will find out.

1. There is heresy in the lands of Bohemia!

2. Their findings are inconclusive.

3. Most have repented for their sins and are true believers once more.

4. The realm of the silver lion has joined the shepherd. Catholicism prevails.

Roll:2. The findings of the Archbishop are inconclusive and further investigation will be required before any final pronouncements are made by the Inquisition on the state of heresy in Bohemia.

Right of Passage through Rumelia

i4_0065.jpg

The duchy of Wallachia is surrounded by tall mountains and thick forests. The one path to march its host is through the lowlands to the East – Rumelia. Alas, that lands is ruled by the distant monarch of Palatinate, who is the overlord of Wuttemburg, to which crown this small piece of land rightfully belongs. But the Wallachian Voivoda procures the letter of approval and from now in perpetuity, lest withdrawn by the ruler of Rumelia, the armies of the Wallach duchy are allowed to march onward through the lands of the aforementioned province, not to be hindered by the garrisons in any way.

Wallachia receives RoP through the provinces of Wuttemburg.

Hi and welcome to the game, Oldblood! :)

But hold on here. What's with the Balkan flavour of a sudden? If someone has recommended Oldblood to the game, can they please step in and vouch for him?

Oldblood, I'm afraid I can't process your application until the admins get back to me after a check on your login - it's sadly necessary that I ask them to find out whether a newcomer with a fresh login has applied to join the game before under a different name.

Until then, may I direct you to the RULES and Religious Powers thread, where you will find most of the important details on how to play the game.

Josef :)

Balkan Flavor?

Well I actually wanted to play Bulgaria, since I a bulgarian but i took the best there was in the Balkans. You have to realize people stay away from teh power of central and western Europe. THe Holy Roman Empire is a mess and seems to be just trouble. To easy to be swallowed up by the large Italian city states, or the Hungarians, or even Aragorn. And England is powering since your isolated on an island. The Balkans just seem to have weaker states and lot more oppportunities. That's my ythinking on the subject.

Steward?

Question I was wondering about getting a porper steward for the game. I have some major questions and Id like to get htem answered. First I was thinking of making our own confederation. How can that be done. THere is a wedding were some parties will be attending. Is a new thread made for specific events like this? Also any help with this topic would be helpful. I of course can't give specifics, but I think using the Italian confederation as an idea might possibly be a start. THanks a mill.....

oh also what are we allowed to talk about in pm.. Like whats off limits? Buona fortuna miei amici!

Tatar loan

The Golden Horde has offered monies to the Orthodox realm of Athens. It is only now that the word of such unprecedented deed has reached the ears of the tribesmen and clan leaders of the Horde. What is this new Khan thinking, offering money to lands which share the perfidious fate of the subjects so prone to revolution? This shall no longer be looked upon kindly, say the proud horse archers, but what can they do, how can they show displeasure to the policies of the mighty Khan.

1. The tribe leaders view the action of the Khan as whimsical and some religious leaders condemn him as a heretic (-2 morale for 1 year).

2. The tribe leaders view the action of the Khan as whimsical and lacking consistency (-1 morale for 1 year).

3. The tribe leaders view the action of the Khan as whimsical, but there is nothing they can do against the great Khan (no effect).

4. The Christian subjects of the Horde rejoice that their ruler is lending a helping hand to their brethren in far away places (+1 morale for 1 year).

Roll:1. The tribal leaders view the action of the Khan as whimsical and the fiery speeches of the mullahs only further infuriate his subjects. We have lost lands to the Orthodox dogs to the west and now we lend them monies in the south? This is heresy and an insult to the fighting spirit of the Great Horde (-2 morale for 1 year to Golden Horde).

Aragonese Labourers

i4_0056.gif

The kingdom of Aragon has been sending laborers across the vast seas. Lands far away, of which little did the city dwellers of the Mediterranean realm know before being sent there by their ruler. But the soils that they are sent to are harsh and cold. The inhabitants speak barbarian languages and their religious observances are perverted to the eyes of the Catholic Spaniards. And the generous taxes they could have contributed to the coffers of Aragon are now gone. Many an Iberian falls under the malaise of these strange climates, many an Iberian looses his life on the stormy sees swarming with brigands. In the end, Valencia and the land surrounding it is left with fewer hands skilled at a trade.

1. It is good that they are gone, we sent the biggest troublemakers anyway, say the inhabitants of Aragon (+1 Morale for 1 year).

2. Many a labourer is gone, but we can do without them (no effect).

3. The loss is considerable, but all has not yet fallen into disrepair in the kingdom of Aragon (-1 Morale for 1 year).

4. Some of our brethren will never return to the lands beneath the orange groves (-2 Morale for 1 year).

5. Most of our best artisans are lost and their revenue as well (-1 Morale for 1 year, -1 current eco).

6. Some of our best artisans and skilled workers were lost due to the grandiose schemes of our monarch (-2 Morale for 1 year, -1 current eco ).

Roll:5. Most of our best artisans are lost and their revenue as well. The coffers are lacking in the rich revenues that were gotten from them and our fathers, brothers and sons have left the Andalusian shores for distant lands of heretic barbarians, if they reach them through pirate infested waters at all. This entire enterprise was a big waste of resources!, is oft heard in Aragon (-1 Morale for 1 year, -1 current eco to Aragon).

My worry is that we get in each others way here in the Balkans. We are different religions...It might be a good dea to have a second opion on some of these matters. I think I've already told you too much about my plans and now you could counter act them....it s these situations i was afraid of. I value your help and friendship greatly, but you have to agree a second opinion from the likes of England for instance or someone completely foreign might be a good idea.

Thanks, R.F.A,

Sorry Oldblood, Serbia's too close to the action in the Balkans - I suspect the temptation would be too great for you to throw your lot in behind R.F.A and NikolaiBucharin because of your friendship with them away from the game. We are very wary of players bringing friends into the game just to support their own roles, as has happened in the past.

Please choose another minor realm - one far away from the Balkans so that your interests do not interfere.

Please also make your next post from a different internet connection. The admins' background check shows you used a connection that R.F.A and NikolaiBucharin have also used in the past. It helps us be sure that you're a different person to them if you're using a seperate connection of your own.

It's not really my place to say, but methinks that a lot of this stuff is general discussion, and hence should be in the Lounge.

This thread is for specific questions only, I suspect...
Ramius, please heed cccino's words. This thread is for questions about the game - other discussions must be carried out in the Paradox Lounge off-topic thread or by other media away from the forum. I'd like to ask Hamilcar to remain your Steward for the now; if there are some subjects you'd not like to discuss with him for in-game reasons, he can still help with other areas of protocol. There's always this thread, if you need a question answered, too. The Stewards system is complementary to it. If it's a 'politically delicate' question, please feel free to contact me via PM.

First I was thinking of making our own confederation. How can that be done.
By role-playing the diplomatic overtures to other in-character realms, agreeing to a treaty, and finally by posting that treaty in the National Stats thread and having all members of the confederation/alliance/pact etc. countersign it in that thread to make it a binding agreement.

Is a new thread made for specific events like this?
No, sorry. You'll need to host weddings, alliance meetings etc. in the most appropriate court thread.

oh also what are we allowed to talk about in pm.
Well, there's no way we can police what's said in a PM, so it's pretty pointless me trying to dictate that. I would recommend for your maximum gaming pleasure, though, that you try to keep any conversations with other players done via PM as in-character as possible. Just like a post made on the forum, except private, of course. Other than that, anything goes.

Phew, that was a long-ass post and no mistake. :)

Josef :)

Aragonese-Bremer renewal of friendship

To counter all suspicions that the nations of Bremen and Aragon are loosing the friendship once held so dear by both parties, the following points are hereby made official:

1) The Commercial-Military Pact, enclosed, is reratified.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Commercial-Military pact between Bremen and Aragon.

-In the case of either the duchy of Bremen or the kingdom of Aragon entering an armed conflict, the other part promises to use full diplomatic and commercial might to end the conflict. This includes a trade embargo on any nations hostile to the abovementioned parties. That is, if it is requested by either Bremen or Aragon.

-Furthermore, the nations are encouraged to lend each other money to the succesfull presecution of the war, if it is practical. In other words, the nations arent obligated to loan eitchother money, but shold be able to provide with a good excuse if not wanting to.

-In case of conflict, the protection of Aragonese and Hansa merchants vassals in such waters where this is practical, will be undertaken by the respective nations. Meaning Bremer and other Hanseatic navies will protect Aragonese merchant vessels in the english channel and the north sea, while Hanseatic ships in the Mediterranean, the sea of Canaries and the Bay of Biscaye will be under Aragonese protection. That way, trade can continue, even in hostile situations.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) The following trade agrement, once in effect but later fallen into decline, is once again activated, and shall be respected in all the lands of Aragon and the Hanseatic Union.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Merchants and seafarers from Hansa states are free to visit and trade in all ports and towns of Aragon.

Merchants and seafarers from Aragon are free to visit and trade in all ports and towns of Hansa states.

A merchant house shall be build in Barcelona, in order to let the Hansa states use Barcelona as a transhipment location, for its trade with Aragon.

A merchant house shall be build in Bremen, in order to let Aragon use Bremen as a transshipment location for its trade with the Hansa states.

Merchants from the Hansa states and Aragon, trading in eitchothers territory, shall be considered as “locals” and dont pay other taxes or fees then local merchants does
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) As following promise made by King Alfonso V of Aragon shall be true:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Merchants from Gelre and Bremen shall be the first to bid on spice, that the Crown of Aragon has purchased from the East, intended for re-export to nations bordering the Baltic Sea and to the northern nations of the Holy Roman Empire (north of the city of Prag) and have the right to re-export it to these nations. They shall pay no taxes or fees for this trade with spice, other then such taxes and fees that their own nations may impose
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) In fullfillment of the reenacted commercial-military pact, Bremen shall declare a trade embargo against Naples, Bremen shall encourage fellow Hanseatic states to follow this lead, and Bremen shall send a loan of 20.000 Bremermarks to the kingdom of Aragon, to aid in the warefforts. Said loan shall be repaid as soon as possible.

--------------

Bremen signs. In accordance with the treaty, Bremen offers Aragon a loan of 2 eco.
