Um, Friesland doesn't have a port, but it does have a coastline. Could I maybe build a port?

I'm not entirely sure I understand the question. If I have, though, generally, we permit players to generate fictional scions of a popular dynasty - you know, your Hapsburgs, your Plantagenets, etc. - no matter how thoroughly a previous player has tried to purge them from the history books.
I mean, I'd have no problem if a player killed his own, fictional dynasty off for whatever reason, but not one of the biggies. Just off the top of my head, let's say a certain family name carries so much historical significance, that you could have one of your characters claim lineage either through marriage or blood and convince those around him via RP skill. The possibilities are pretty much endless. The potential for old school RP fun, similarly so.

I'm afraid not. At the end of the day, it comes down to 'he said, she said', ie: one player say one thing, but another says something else. It's up to the audience (the other players), at that point to decide who is right. I'm not a professional historian, but check out how many claims were made throughout history to various lineages and privelidges and what have you, that were based on total BS.Originally posted by Petrarca
I have maintained that Ladislav is the last of the family and that no more heirs exist coming out of thin air. Does this prevent another player from making another descendant?
That would be even better, since you both, presumably, go away smiling.Or does it just mean that I myself and another player would have to RP this somehow and hope that we agree on the basic premises?
LOL, I'm still not sure I understand that question. To once again say what took me so long to say, how are the interplay between multiple fictional genealogies resolved?
That's basically the answer I'm looking for.Originally posted by josefgiven

Changes to stats, and ports would qualify as that, is next to impossible.
If you really, really, feel like it, you could ask Lad for an event to simulate you building a port, the best outcome would possibly be +1 sea mil, and the possibility to build navies, for a limited period of time.
However, if you're not into the military side of having a port, you could allways claim that you expand one or more of the numerous fishing-village ports that Friesland gotta have, and start trading (RP-wise) out of that one.

I shall take the small land of Mantua as my realm.
I don't care very much for realm swapping; neither do I care much for being dictated to which realms are being 'taken'. This is not a very impressive start.Originally posted by Pepin
Actually, I shall be taking Milan instead.
Pepin, we value good manner on these threads and courtesy will get you far with the players and mods.
