The Qara Qoyunlu

Hail, stranger. Welcome to Tabriz, where once the il-Khans ruled; Tabriz, where men from all over the world gather to trade in goods of every imaginable kind; Tabriz, the greatest, most magnificent city in Persia. Today, it is the capital by the Black Sheep clan, which was restored to its former glory by Qara Yusuf after a short domination by Timur and his sons. Years have passed since then, and Yusuf's son Iskander now leads the Qara Qoyunlu over Tabriz, Azerbaijan and Kirkuk.

The current head of state is :
Iskander, Khan of the Black Sheep Horde and Emir of Tabriz.

Culture and Religion are respectively Turkish and Sunni.

Iskander believes in the veracity of Sunni Islam, and has a certain disdain for followers of other religions; however, he has little crusading (jihading?) fervor, and will not chase the infidels across the world unless the Caliph expressly orders it.

He inherited a hatred for the Timurid dynasty from his father Qara Yusuf, who struggled all his life to drive them from the clan's homelands. Nevertheless, he is at peace with them for the moment being, and will most likely not attempt to change that unless provoked.

Greetings, most devout Emir.

Long have I waited for the day when the Qara Qoyunlu would rise up and join their brothers in the great enterprise which lies before us. I beseech you to send an emissary to the Devout Conclave in Konya, so that the Black Sheep Turks might be counted as being among the members of the Devout Alliance. Truly, with the Venitians preparing to fulfill their gross territorial ambitions, and the thrice-damned heretics of Egypt making ready to do war upon all good muslim nations, our faith is in a crisis. Although ours is a religion of peace, we must defend the faithful at all costs.

In the days ahead, when this plague has passed, it would please me greatly to recieve an audience with the Great Lords of the Turks. However, us Arabs are not as resistant to the sickness as our Mongol brethern. So I will wait, and pray to Allah that he will take mercy upon us all.

A message from the Great Khan of the Timurid empire arrives

"My great brother in faith and culture. I see the Khan have recived a letter from the deciving and lying bastards of Genoa. I will not warn him about listening to them, i am sure that the Khan is enlighted enough to understand that the one invading the holy city of Damascus is indeed a servant of evil, like the caliph said when he initiadet the Jihad against Genoa!

Now i also wish to congratualte you that you have united the clans of the Qara Qoyunlu. I hope you will continue your sucsessfull reign.

I also have a question to the new Khan, i recently made an agreement with some warlords in your dominion, an agreement that my troops would be free to travel though your land, and all genoese troops would be stopped. Is this agreement still active?

And my last reason for this letter, a small wish that you will come to the Conclave in Konya and join the holly alliance of Allah. I hope the Khan sees that as natural as i do."
