A man with the sharp eyes of an old politician enters the Caliph's chambers and bows.

"Great Caliph- I am Theodore Ibrahim al-Trabzoni, Ambassador of Ak Koyunlu to your holy realm. I come bearing the Vizier's good will and your permission for a great work. With the death of our Khan and the establishment of Jahar as our Regent, several palaces have been vacated. The Vizier Jahar would like your blessing should we use one of these for a Jamhariya- a council for all Muslim nations to meet, strengthen their friendship, and resolve their differences." Al-Trabzoni bows. "I shall be pleased to relay your answer to my master, the Vizier of Ak Koyunlu."

A letter arrives by courier-

“The Muslim League has been convened at Bitlis in the nation of Ak Koyunlu. The temporary Chair, Vizier Jahar ibn-Muhammad of Ak Koyunlu, is pleased to invite you to send a representative at your earliest convenience. Please see the Charter, which has been attached to this note. Allah willing, this forum shall be a powerful voice for friendship and cooperation between all the nations of Islam.

Mushin al-Aini, the spokesman for the Sunnite population in Egypt, enters.

“Most Holy One,

I am concerned. There are an increasing fear in Egypt, among the faithful ones. Rumors tell us about descised men walking the streets by night, breaking in to defendless peoples homes and force them to pay, what they call “zakat”, to the Imam. I do not yet know if the Sultan is aware of this, as it will certainly draw funds from his own treasury, but it is an clear indication that the heathen Imam Zaid is extending his powers. Also rumors have traveled to us from the Sultanate of Hejdaz, that the Holy cities may fall into the hands of the Shiites. What are we supposed to do when hearing such rumours? Have Allah abandon us?”

The Caliph, lying sick in bed, acknowledges the Egyptian as he enters. He then collapses into wet coughing.

"My son, Allah will always be with those who hold to the true faith. There are times when he would test our faith in him, and those who keep to their faith are rewarded with treasures that this earth cannot match."

Coughing some more, he leans towards al-Aini. "In the matter of the Hedjaz, I have sent a letter to the Sultan asking for an explanation in person. He has not yet seen fit to answer the missive from this humble one. I fear that it is already too late, and that I must declare that the Sultan has lost his way. Such a pity, he was a devout lad..."

"In any event, if Shi'ites attempt to take the Holy Cities, there will be war. No man could bear to see the apostates in the holiest of lands. That is why they did not conquer them before, and we shall stop them again if need be."

Mushin al-Aini enters.

”Most Honorable and Holy Caliph,

I have had the pleasure of being your guest in over a year now, studied the holy scriptures and become more wiser, still there is many things to be discovered. I do how ever feel my self pressured to return to Egypt. The pressure of Imam Zaid upon the faithfull ones have been growing and in this time of need I need to be among them, to help, guid and support them. I hope I will be able to seek an audience with the Sultan so this matter may be discussed. Maybe I may reveal the dark soul of the Egyptian Imam to the Sultan. I also hope I will be welcomed back to Astrakhan when the circumstances allows it, but until then I bid you farewell.”

Mushin bows, rises and kiss the right shoulder of the Caliph as a sign of respect, bows again and leaves for Cairo.

A letter arrived from Mecca regarding the catholic missionaries,
"Honorable Caliph,
though in our treaty of peace, we allow catholic missionaries, there numbers are few and none have access to holy sites and very few repectivly are allowed in the cities of Mecca and Medina."
