Arch King of Denmark?

As the title says, Denmark is now a kingdom with an Arch-King. Which sounds awesome, however i've never read of this? Does anyone know any historical works on this title? where it stems from?

Coronations: Medieval and Early Modern Monarchic Ritual by Janos Bak refers to Christopher III as "Archirex of the North" - Indeed, a google search on Archirex Christopher III brings back lots of potential sources - but none are in English. Hopefully someone who speaks one of the nordic languages might be able to find you proper sources, though it appears to be more of a title used within the Kalmar Union rather than outside of it.

It is coded to apply to King Christopher III of Denmark specifically and no one else. The code can be found in common\government_names\00_government_names.txt

What's wrong with Mega Emperor? I'd use it! But first I'd have to get my Omega Kingdom to Empire level.

I think there's often a bit of hindsight involved in what sounds silly to us or not. Certainly I came across some (non-period) texts where this title was used mockingly but it's not so different from how other titles are constructed (i.e. Compare to arch duke, king of kings, etc).

I vaguely remembered something about the title being parallel to arch bishop, so I looked it up. Indeed, speculations about the meaning of the title includes a theory that it was meant to showcase some kind of equality between the crown and the church. (With the church getting several privileges right after his coronation!) Other explanations include the idea that the title came about because his uncle was still alive and claiming the title as king, as well as that the title was meant to show an elevated position over the vassals of the Holy Roman Empire.

Regardless of what the real explanation is, excellent flavour Paradox!

What's wrong with it? The Arch prefix was usually used to show ones status as higher than the title. Like the Archduke being slightly better than a Duke, but not quite a King. Or an archbishop would be a good example also. Adding it to King made sense in the period, as he ruled 3 separate kingdoms- making him superior to just a king, but not quite an Emperor.

It's honestly no different than calling his title "Great King" or "High King"

As opposed to Archduke of Austria? I think your perspective is just tainted by hindsight bias.
