I know you can't reveal to much and we just have to wait patiently...
But yet i can't help but to ask about the "theming" ...

I think most people agree with me that it would look weird if the european style building just pop up at random. So can you (or any other dev.) tell us something about how this will work? Will it be something similar to the regions? So you can set regions where a certain building style is allowed? (Which would be awesome for custom sets as well!!)

Anyway, i understand you can't reveal too much as it's still in progress, but can you tell a littlebit about how we can use the "european theme" ?

Thanks!

Fingers crossed its done with districts ;)

I'd be happy with a Stickied post with the top 50 issues you're working on. Focus being on the "working on" part.
I just want to know that the issues I'm having(Death waves, population stagnation, import drop off, traffic... the damned TRAFFIC... )
I just want to KNOW they're being addressed.

To me, the #1 issues are the ones above. Death waves, population stagnation, and the traffic focusing on single lanes.

Communication is a lot more then posting video's about how great a game is, or new features. Game crippling bugs are important. We just want to HEAR that they're being addressed.

And as another said, telling us to "Trust us".. Sorry. Been burned by way WAY too many developers with that one..

Trust is a two way street.. And atm, this is feeling like a One way Highway off ramp into the mist.

We at Colossal have had to prioritize our efforts to working on the patch, which will include tunnels, European buildings and various fixes that will be specified in the patch notes. It doesn't make sense to us to start listing the issues here beforehand as they haven't even been fully tested yet. I hope you can understand that.

Well I been Gaming in one form or another for the last 30 years (Started with Atari) and personally do not expect CO (or any other company) to give me step by step updates to things that are not finalized or tested properly. - IMHO they have given me enough information to show me what they are planning and that is good enough for me.
Over the years I have been involved in quite a few closed Beta releases and have been bound under NDA in one form or another so fully realize the reasons why developers don't give out every bit of information as things change nearly every day due to coding issues and other problems cropping up..
So it doesn't make sense releasing information that is not set in concrete (so to speak)

I am perfectly happy just to sit back and let CO do what they need to do without trying to get every little detail I can out of them :) - Besides, I have a game to play :p

Hey Mariina, I'd prefer if the new staff worked on the game rather than give little updates! it's the end product working smoothly that I want. Having the CEO come and talk to us here on the forum is pretty cool though :) such a gracious thing to do.

One question though that seems common is how the European style and Modern style buildings will work together. Will you just select which type you want to spawn in game? Will it be in the district tool? We'll find out soon I guess but it'd be interesting to know now. Mostly because I'm bored and wasting away in an office cubicle.

How can you be satisfied with the amount of communication when people like myself keep telling you it is inadequate? At what point do you stop and start taking us seriously?

Because you're a (very) vocal minority and we strongly disagree with you.

End of discussion.

Well said TotallyMoo. This game "came out of the box" head and shoulders above the vast majority of games out there. Just knowing CO is still working to improve it is quite enough. We can wait ( well maybe . . . LOL).

Would it be possible to get any word on future improvements to corrupted save games?

I basically just want to know if it is considered a solved problem at this point by the developers. I'm talking about saves that will not load, even without using any mods or custom assets. I have posted a bug report with links to multiple corrupt saves, etc.

It's being researched and worked on, yes. I can't give an ETA to when/how but it's a known issue.

One issue, though, is that we can't do much about people shutting down steam before cloud syncs properly. This seems to be the #1 cause of corrupted saves, unfortunately.

We are still reading the forum actively and now that I am looking to hire more people to join the team we hopefully can again allocate more time to actually answering the posts. But please remember that I will always rather have the team actually working on the game and recently we have been very busy to bringing you guys the next patch as soon as possible. I can reveal that the tunnels are starting to shape up, but we are still working on the European assets. I think it's looking very nice already, but I'm a sucker for those old styled buildings anyway :)

Absolute boss, well said! Couldn't agree more, and it's not every day that I get to tip my hat to such stature. Looking forward to the wax once it's buffed!

Newbie to the game

But let's be honest here! Everyone who buys this game loves it. They may love to hate it or hate to love it but its a game that invokes passion and demands hours of our real life and therefore produces massive interaction.

A lot of games evolve, especially simulation type games. Most take years to get to a level where maker/user/modder are satisfied (If ever!) and CS is a fledgling of a few month, a baby that if nurtured and guided will become the ultimate of sims that other sims aspire too.

We need interaction and positiveness from all sides to achieve the ultimate and obvious potential this sim can produce.

There should be unity between all.... We need to keep in mind this is OUR baby..... But still just a baby. Other (very very few!) great sim games have taken years to show their full potential.

Well done to all involved.. Maker/Modders/Users...

Thank your very much for your response @TotalyMoo, that was good news indeed.

I have been very careful in letting Steam finish syncing, but in my case it didn't help. Looking at these forums it doesn't look like a common problem, but it seems (based on my limited data) that once a save becomes corrupt, going back to an earlier save doesn't necessarily help. It's like the corruption is scheduled to happen due to how the city evolves / is simulated.

I really hope you make a new zoning tool for the new buildings :)

Also is it possible to remove certain "vanilla" buildings from spawning in certain zones? There is a few default buildings especially in the low density zones that I don't really want in my city.

I'm not sure that a new zoning tool would be as useful as a new District Policy that prevents certain building types from spawning.

If policies could be used to restrict buildings depending on "Type" then I could see that be really useful moving forward.

e.g. If you could specify a building as being a "Hotel" or "W2W" or "Warehouse" for example, then that would open a whole load of possibilities for Modders and future DLC's.

oh zoning......Please for the love of, create upgrade tool for zoning or even better allow rezone over top of existing without having to dezone. Having to de-zone & rezone just to upgrade is extremely painful .
Please add shortcut command to completely disable sound (googled & couldn't find one?).

Hope you'll be adding new Policies to the game, like"Free/Compulsory Drivers School" = improved traffic / less accidents :D & others.

Short version:

I take it the current version is still 1.0.7c?

Long version:

I had an issue with steam that constantly "updated" my game to version 1.0.5. I could get the latest version by clicking on "Verify local files integrity" - or something to that effect - but as soon as the newest version is installed, Steam started downloading the old version again.

I fixed this by making a backup of my 1.0.7c version, and when steam overwrote it with 1.0.5 again, I manually copied the 1.0.7c files over the steam files. I've been playing on 1.0.7c ever since, but I'm concerned that steam will still not automatically upgrade my game when the newest version is released. So, I just want to confirm that I haven't been left behind again.

Also, low density buildings should be able to come up on high density zones if the demand does not justify high density. I want my apartment block to be an achievement, not merely a matter of zoning.

And all apartment-looking buildings should be moved to high density (or even better, to a new medium density zone). High level low density buildings, both in residential and commercial zones are too big to be considered low density.

Low density residentials should be strictly single family homes!

I've got to say, the game in its current state is dead to me BUT I am really looking forward to the long-awaited patch :)

In my opinion all the game needs is some more official content, a bit of polishing, and possibly a re-think of the civilian death design/mechanics. I had played the game non-stop for 2 weeks since release but suddenly didn't continue with it because every game plays out the same, some more depth and randomness is needed and less mass death waves. I also hope there are new official maps coming, the currents ones are all a bit same'y but figured that was just for the initial release. But we have been waiting a while now for some new content.

I've got to say though there are things like the Mass Transit management UI which is user created on the workshop, really should of been something included with the base game. Perhaps CO could look into having more management options for mass transit, like being able to delete individual transport routes etc. instead of players having to rely on a mod.

Monthly progress updates are great honestly, even if they are small. They really do mean a lot to us in the community.
