Playing as Castille from 1066, i reconquered most of the territory belonging to my Kingdom, and promply had my capital moved to the richest province, Cordoba.

Only trouble is, its still pretty arabic, and with any cultural conversion, say, 200-300 years away it seems i am doomed to getting a lot of arabic children, possible even an arabic first born after some generations.

Would it be possible to change capital placement to give preference to provinces with the same culture as the ruler?

You can change the culture of your capital in the save gamefile.

Event 9007 (cultural conversion) happend only once to me yet. Also no other rulers have had it.

I was more hoping for a change in the game, not the save file.

The current capital placement can easily, at least in Iberia, with most rich provinces in the south, lead to the rulers becoming arabic over time, and then any cultural conversion process would start going in reverse.

What can be done is a low MTTH event for cultural conversion of one's capital province.

Of course that could be open to gamey abuse where you convert your capital, give it away to get a fresh one, convert that, give it away to get another, convert that... etc etc...

Not that I'd ever even think of doing such a thing.
:D ;)

This actually sounds fairly accurate historically speaking. Arabic/Andalusian culture was very seductive in this time period, and there are many instances of Christians invading the area, conquering it, and promptly "going native". And since most of the scientific, literary, and cultural developments at this time were made by Arabs, having all those Arabic children may not be such a bad thing :)

Yes, but this will result in a counter-reconquista, since the Spanish Kings will all be Arabic.

I agree: Make the capital province selection filter out non-culture provinces unless there are no other options.

Nah, wouldn't be that bad. I could revoke the titles again later, or just give them to my heir so that I'd get them back when he became King.

I'm very certain that the ability of a king's capital to magically transform arabs in Baghdad to swedes will ever be implemented. At least not in official patch.

Arabic does not mean Muslim. There were plenty of Christians and Jews who kept their faith while being "Arabized". Indeed, the period of Arab control of Iberia was a "golden age" of sort for Jews, as they enjoyed unparalleled political, social, and economic power under Muslim kings. Most Christians living in Arabic Spain (and indeed the entire Muslim world) lived comfortably and enjoyed much better treatment than any Muslim under any Christian ruler.

Why not, if king of Sweden manages to capture Baghdad and hold it for two-three generations? Or would he then assume an arabic name and proclaim himself khalif of Sweden? ;)

A nice idea, but most likely not feasible to implement for CK.

I can't really see why not, adding a cultural preference for the rulers culture to capital selection sounds like an easy, limited task to me - you know any reason why it should be a problem?

But would a catholic swedish king ever call his son Mohammed Svenson ?

The crusaderstates existed for about 200 years, but there never was a christian ruler with a muslim/arabic name.

Walter and Enravota, he most likely would still call himself Sven, king of Sweden, but the significant majority people living in his capital province would still be culturally arabic. Any even remotely logical cause for Sven being able to turn Baghdad to swedish would be Sven committing genocide on local inhabitants and transporting some swedes from god-knows-where to live in their place. And even that doesn't adress the silliness of a king and his retainers being able to clear out populous regions of natives and transport new inhabitants from very distant lands. Compared to this, I find Sven calling his eldest son Ahmed in local tradition quite reasonable.

Casus Belli, I'm not a coder, but I know it would require Johan to make new code to work. While it might be an easy task, it might also be highly difficult task to code and even if it's an easy task, it's still something we would need Johan to do and the amount of Johan-time available for CK is limited enough, that I don't think that the low importance of this makes it feasible.
