Playing Poland in the Third Crusade scenario. Hard/Coward. 1222.
It's the first time I'm playing the game with the Coward level. Already played with Aggressive and Normal, but got irritated by the Muslims getting a serious kicking in just 20 years (I mean being removed form Iberia and Africa).
In the beginning Aragon and Leon started a crusade of their own (without the game-wide crusade) gradually taking land from the Muslims in Iberia. Germany, France and England (the usual Africa holders) stayed mostly in Europe fighting each other (the Germans even hopped on me). The Sultanate of Rum is doing quite well gradually gaining power by taking out Armenia and some Byzantium counties.
There was only one crusade (Cadiz) so crusade targets were taken out by the kingdoms who were really interested in the area (Aragon is now 1/2 of Iberia).
The Cumans are in a constant war with Hungary owning Pressburg and Pest, while the other part is holding lands in Moldau. The land are switching hands very often for about 15 years now.
Eastern Europe remained intact. Not too many wars, I've seen 2 to be exact.
The Holy Land is in a tight grip of the KoJ. The only thing I don't like is the KoJ king making runs into... Persia! (omitting present day Iraq).
Apart from that I'm seriously worried by the Golden Horde performance. Initially they gained a lot of land in the Urals. However they started loosing men fast. They were at war with about 6 countries (including the all-mighty Cuman empire) and started to get a kicking. They were reduced to about 4 provinces when they received reinforcements. They once again punched their enemies back, but the whole story repeated. Now again they are 3 province big. Not exactly what I've ben preparing for.
this game was far more enjoyable than my precious ones with a higher AI aggressiveness rate.
