I think I noticed Castille having 2 alliances, but maybe that is an exception from the scenario file?

Today's beta patch should now limit each ruler to one alliance but it's possible that the same "bug" that occasionally results in a character getting two educations or two spouses is probably going to make it possible for the occasional occurence of a ruler with two alliances. No way to avoid that, unfortunately, but it should be the exception rather than the norm - and is much more likely to occur within the first few months of each scenario when no one has any alliances so a ton of offers are being made.

Ok, so I started another castille game. Took out Molena right away, then Toledo DOW's me.

No problem since Valencia was also at war with them, so I sweep down and take out all their territory.

I give the count title of Palencia to one of my starting courtiers (Urraca Jimenez) so I can develop the better ones. About 6 months later I check out her profile and she's a vassal of Leon?????

I checked the log, and there was nothing there about when, how, or why she suddenly switched to Leon. I'm trying to filter through the debug log but since I dont know when it happened and I'm not really sure what I'm looking at or for, I doubt I'll find anything...

Oh and I did NOT get a claim on the land either..so I dont know what's going on :(

Started a new game as Poland in the 1187 scenerio. I have to say that this pathc is awesome.

Crusading in Iberia:
After 2 years a crusade was launched to capture Cordoba. Last time I checked (1198) only Almeria was in muslim hands. But the best part of all is that the reconquista was done only by the iberian Kingdoms (all of them hopped in) + Venice holding 2 provinces.

The Almohad kingdom broke up into pieces. They weren't DoWed by anyone. The king just kept loosing vassals.

In the mean time (at the end of the iberia cursade + some time after that) the Ayyubids went for Sicily. The whole kingdom was smashed into pieces. I was mostly pleased with the AI' DoWing smaller counties and duchies (not only going for the king's lands).

The other great thing I noticed was the war between France and England over some 2 counties. Yea, it was good fun watching ( I was allied to France). In my previous beta patch games I didn't see much christian vs christian wars.

Also the Principality of Galich conquered almost the whole pagan Lithuania. That of course made me a but unhappy (being the king of Poland).

The AI seems more keen on conquering pagan/muslim land near their place. It was the first time I've seen Hungary conquering Wallachia istead of DoWing some pagans in Estonia.

Wow Mr.T, you were not kidding with the muslim recapture of the Crusade target. It took me several weeks just to click through all the DoWs.
:)

Some observations regarding the gangbang :

Most seem to concentrate on the Crusade target (was Alexandria so that could have something to do with it), but after it was taken they steamrolled me good into oblivion (Leon+Cordoba+Toledo+Seville+Mercia+Almeira+Badahoz).

One funny thing though, prior to going on the crusade, my troops were plentiful, Leon drawing >2000 and Cordoba >4000. Therefor, my crusading army was drawn from poorer provinces. But, when I got the 100 DoWs for conquering Alexandria, the strength of my regiments seemed reduced by a factor of 3-4. Is this something intentional?

Or was it simply because I had almost finished the reconquista perhaps? I also got the feeling that the regiment size of the muslim nations got beefed after I took Jerusalem (Kingdom of al-Muribits (sp?) fielding well over 10,000 troops).

Other observations :

Vassals seem very, very passive after declaring a war on whoever I DoW:ed. Perhaps that was because they felt outnumbered though, or lacked cash.

Large muslim invasion of HRE, resulting in several small Sheikdoms and even one Emirate in HRE + France + England. When was the 'cannot cross religious enemy land to get to target' removed??

The upped cost of fielding troops seem to be working ok, I noticed several lords disbanding a large army in favour of a smaller one when signing peace with a strong enemy and left with a weak one. Although that could just be the result of negative cash. I also noticed a strange variation in the cost of troops. During reqonquista, 5-6000 troops set me back -150 per month. After Crusade, with approx the same earning when in peace, I could easily field more troops and still break even. This coincided with the reduction in regiment size and earnings from provinces (base value reduced). Is there some kind of scriptet event for Iberia to lower these things? Result of change of religion?

Excuse this long, unstructured post.. mea culpa.

The game continues
1214.

Germany took Egypt (without a crusade!!!) and Ayyubids got sheikdoms all over Lorrein and Swabia. They even have german/catholic vassals there! Also the Ayyubids hold sothern Italy including Sicily, while Heinrich Hohenstaufen moved the HRE capital to... Nubia (yea, I was supprised!).

The Almohads are gone with Aragon holding Marocco and Castille owning half of Algiers. Who would have thought that the reconquista would go across the sea? ;)

The Holy Land is a total mess. Byzantium (the Emperor himself) is holding all of Palestine and Tyre, while the rest of it is splitted between Hungary, Toulouse and other kingdoms/duchies (including Bosnia!)

As far as the Eastern Europe goes, it's in a middle of a war between the beefed-up Principality of Gallich+Podolia+Samogotia (yup they've taken all of them) and the Zamigalians who taken out Smolensk+Poltosk+Turov. Right now I'm happy to see the pagan forces taking Gallich. I will conquer it from the hands of the heathens :)

Denmark is doing really good. They own (the king's lands) everything south of Ostergotland and Vastergotland, chunks of Estonia and a bit of Finland.
The king prefers to own it all himself ;)

So the game's interesting. However there is somethign really messed up with the territory access. Muslim sheikdoms (with christian vassals) in the middle of Germany is not a good thing.

I dont know how she would have inhereted since I just gave her the title, and I dont think she was married either (although I cant be sure of that)

I did restart from the autosave previous to this occuring, played it out the same way and 5 years later she is still my vassal..I had the same thing happen with a bishopric in the last patch as well, but didnt think about it since I figured it was part of the breakaway stuff, now I'm not so sure.

I'm glad you find such games "interesting"...I just find them stupid and they are the main reason I've lost interest in CK.

Tried the new beta and the muslim response to crusading is just insane...a little reaction is nice but being dow'ed by every two bit power south of Antioch is just a game ender.

Got one of the new Bastard events(courtier claims Im the father), nifty.

Though theres a bug in the "Vassel is unhappy with your ruling law" event. Dunno why but it never seems to say the right person is losing loyalty.

Edit:Ignore the second part. Guess Im just getting lucky with the even % chance of reconsiliation in the event.

Did you bring up the chance of random female courtiers appearing when you have a nearly empty court? Or did I just have a run of bad luck?

Well that's interesting. A crusade gets called to liberate Byzantion, hmm I think as I begin to scroll over. Well that's strange a round shield with the imperial colors? They have a vassal in greece too, interesting. Clickie on the shield and Emperor Bonyak of Crimea is staring back at me with a smile. Going to have to see how this works after christian europe gets done with the heathens of Byzantium...

Georgia and such....

Playing Kappodokia again, and like with the past two patches & games, Georgia goes under fast. Also the Pagans north of Georgia (Alania) quickly become vassals of the King of Cuman.

Georgia seems to be slammed by Derbent and Al Jazira; this time Georgia attacked Alania and then were attacked by that terrible duo. I don't think Alania became vassals of Cuman before Georgia disappeared, but I'm not sure.

Two observations:

1) The "Your child is slow to learn to talk" event is firing like mad. 6 times in two hours of gameplay! MTTH is supposed to be 360 months, but looks more like 3 :p

2) The corrupt savegame CTD is back with a vengeance. I'm going to start running things in DEBUG mode to try to figure it out.

For the bastards...its still imo isn't working right because i had my son get it on with a serving maid and i got a bastard, for my king. I had made some of these events prior but dropped them because you cannot tie bastards to anyone but the ruler.

Also something that i forgot to mention that i noticed earlier. It seems the count for atleast prestige starts over every year. Thus if i'm said to earn 0.1 prestige every month (as most counts do) they will earn over the course of 5 years, they gains 5 prestige, not 6 as they should. This may not seem very important, but over the course of time it can be. Plus gold FE does not from what i've seen restart like this.

Well the Alans reside in provinces that are part of the createable Kingdom of Cuman. Dukes/Counts w/o a leige will pledge to the corresponding king(if they exist). The Alans pledging to the King of Cuman may not have been intended, but it is WAD.

As for Georgia, yeah, their always screwed.

Yep, I already had a double alliance like that in the april 15 beta. It was during my first game, as Duke of Britanny 1066 scenario. England and France had made an early alliance and then went to war with one another. Both offered me an alliance simultanously and I promptly accepted, ending up with a double alliance.

Edit: On a similar note, in that game I also had a new record for a multiply married courtier. Having asked for Adelais de Ponthieu's hand (one of the best young women available for marriage in the 1066 scenario, no wonder everyone wants her) I ended up her 4th husband (luckily my candidate ended up impreganting her and she also moved to my court). But 4 husbands is a bit much. Though it's probably not that big a problem (though at least one ai duchy must have gone without heir because of that).
