application failed to initialize properly

now that the game's stopped freezing I often get this message when starting. it then has a code (0xc0000005) and Click on OK to terminate the application.

sometimes restarting the computer works, sometimes it happens again.

What's the deal?

Given the erratic nature of your reported problems, I could easily believe you have either a hardware fault (say Ram or CPU), or a malware infestation.
