Launcher will not update, cannot connect to multiplayer when game is launched.

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When launching via Xbox Game Pass or Microsoft Store, the launcher pops up as normal, but the "News" tab says "We couldn't fetch news about this game. Are you online? Please check your connection." and in the top left the Paradox symbol has a red dot that when you hover on it it gives the message: "Something went wrong while updating the launcher. Please contact support." If I scroll down to the bottom of the launcher, the version is (I assume) "pdxlaun-2267-fix-game-pass-gpu-crash-1 (sandbox)"
When I hit play, I log in via the button on the bottom right, then I hit Online Multiplayer. It goes through its loading/connection process and brings up the list of lobbies. The list is invariably blank. If I hit back, then attempt to connect to multiplayer again I get the message "Lost connection to Lobby server! Could not login: unknown error - only offline features are supported!"
The exact same errors are happening to a friend of mine who is also attempting to play from the Xbox Game Pass.
Have you tried verifying your files?
There is no option via the launcher to do so. As this is also not a Steam installation, there does not appear to be any way aside from uninstalling and reinstalling via the Xbox Game Pass again.
