1.8 and Art of War lauched about 6 days ago and brought a insanly reworked Papal System, "better" HRE Religion mechanics and some major improvements in Revolts in general. But the bugs came along... Mostly smalls bugs, some annoying as hell.

The New Trade Goods DON'T have manufactories, making annoying to have a province with Dyes (5.00 $) but lacking the 100% Goods Boost. (And the lack of: Glass, Gems and Coal* for end game)

The Pope always Joining the PROTESTANT side, together with Muslim Nations in Persian and some Hordes are simply Strange. (The "Europe-only" is not working well I guess...)

The simply "only one Religous War" is sad... HRE should have instead of a "Religious peace", a "truce timer" for like, 10 years or so, until the Dominat and the Official religion in the Empire become the same or the year is 1653.

The lack of attetion with PROTESTANT itself, together with Orthodox and other:
Although Orthodox, Islam and Reformed have Mechanics... Looking to the Catholic mechanics makes everyone sad. Adding Mechanics for the ""Five" patriarchs (Rome, Constantinople, Antioch, Jerusalem and Alexandria). Mechanics to ACTUALLY became the Caliph of Islam, the sects of Islam between Reason and Faith, etc. As for the reformed Religions, adding a system similar to the Reformed but instead "generic": War, Trade, etc... Add a Fevor mechanics where you can choose 3 major "Douctrines" relanted to different religions of Protestant and Reformed kind, similar to the Deity System. This would allow much more costumizantion and flavour of "Different" protestant and Reformed Religions: Anglicans, Baptists and so on. (Major Catholic Heresies like Hussite are NOT excluded for that Attetion)

Yeah, how dare nations whose capitals are in Europe participate in the Europe-only war!

Apparently the pope joining the protestant side is a bug though (I don't like that it's a bug though; it makes sense that politics would surface making the pope's decision to join the protestants, especially if there's people he hates on the catholic side).

Also yeah, wish the new goods had manufactories to go with them. I expect we'll get them eventually (1.9 perhaps).

Well, If Persian is in Europe...there is something wrong with the Geography Books. Also, Ottomans joined the War having there Capital in Ankara (Anatolia > NOT Europe), and Circassia in CENTRAL ASIA. So... There is some bugs with the EUORPE-ONLY.

For the fact of Goods and the Manufactories thing, Goods are still odd, especilly for the "modifier" and for late game (First Indutrial Era) there is almost no events for faster or cheaper Manufactories or New Goods. It's sad :(
Building in general needs rework. Like the Universities... Although the Historical fact that people had universities since 1419, you can only build ONE circa 1650 .-. That's is simply nonsense also

I don't know about "Persia being in Europe", but Ankara and Circassia are both classified as Europe in the game. If you go to the region map mode and check, it says they're in Europe.

Even IF the Pope hates Ferrara, Mantua and the likes, he should never join the Protestant League because of them being in the Catholic League. It's simply ridiculous, since he wouldn't gain anything from it. Not even politically and it's even worse economically. There's just no event that'd make it plausible for him to not support catholics.

What if the Catholic leader of the HRE is excommunicated?

Nope, not gonna work. If the protestants win, the Pope would lose any privileges in the HRE. His economy would crumble since the influx of money from those areas would die down. He couldn't even excommunicate following HRE emperors since they'd be protestant. How would he win anything from that?

I dunno. This is politics we're talking about. I doubt they'd operate with the hindsight of what to do after the war is over. The biggest drive of foreign policy for a lot of nations was "Get in the way of x rival nation or some nation we don't like."

Doesn't matter in game, this is about the preserving (Catholic) Christendom and the Pope's place as the head of that church. Hating heretics was enough for it to be a catholic "bonus" in game.

First of all: Protestantism wants to dethrone the Pope, not the Emperor. So his religious vassals rebel for independence and he's siding with them to hurt the one who tries to prevent that? No way. Even if he doesn't like his "ally", he'd do anything to help him succeed. You can't apply France's logic to this. They had nothing to lose by siding with the League of Schmalkalden. The Pope on the other hand would lose _everything_ if they were successful. There's just no way he'd side with them. Ever. You can't justify everything with "ATL". I'd even block player Papacys from joining the Protestant League.
