Playing as England, I cannot annex my vassal (Munster). It keeps saying "Unknown" for the length of time.

Has anyone else ran into this? I didn't see anything related to this in any of the hot fix notes.

Annexation speed is based on their religion and culture, as well as your diplomatic reputation. In this case, you would have 1 base, 1 for same religion, and no culture bonus. So if your diplomatic reputation is -2 or lower (maybe you just diplo-annexed Scotland?) you would have no progress.

However, it should definitely give you that breakdown on this screen, so that is a thing that could do with some improvements.

It doesn't work. I start Annexation and it stays on 0% forever. Waited around 4 years and canceled it.

I guess i'm the only one this has happened to. Sad panda ;(

Schmoekoeksklok (i think i got that right) is right. You hower need to keep in mind that Diplomatic reputation is determined in whole numbers rounded down. Example: 2.95 dip rep. will give +2 to progress. Your diploannex progress is: base +1, same culture +1, same religion +1, +X dip rep.
Dip rep is modified by: Dip rep ideas (diplomacy and influence groups), legimacy, overextension, advisors, NIs AND if you have recently diploannexed someone (gives -3 for 10 years). Im sry if i forgot something that modifies it.

You get "Unknown" if your diploannex progress is 0 or <0 as there wont be any progress then.

EDIT: as Steelensturm say if you start the progress you can hover the progress bar and see a breakdown of your +'s and -'s that modifier the progress.

That's not entirely true. It's absolute value rounded down.

I'm not sure if this is true because I annexed Scotland after canceling my Munster annexation. Afterward, Munster is still shown as "Unknown". Maybe there's a calculation error?

Scottish is in the same culture group as English, Irish is not, so if you had exactly zero progress on Munster you'd still have 1 progress per month for Scotland.

FYI on this, you guys were right... "Unknown" was set because I didn't have the capabilities to annex the vassal (due to -2 Dip Relations) and I found that by starting the annexation process then hovering over the 0%. Why I was able to annex a much larger Scotland at this point was likely due to accepted culture.

Thanks everyone. Not a bug ;(

Actually you got the -2 Dip Relations because you just annexed Scotland. It's a temporary penalty though, and you should be fine once its effects end.

Yeah, it only lasts 10 years. In my game as England after winning the HYW and forming a PU with France, I decided to take the Diplomacy Ideas. The extra Dip. Rep. from the idea and having a Statesmen advisor allowed me to annex all of Ireland in less than 15 years.

I also decided to keep Scotland a vassal and then diplomatically form GB while I focused on strengthening my mainland position. Its 1533 right now and all is going well.
