Flags of the World, a very very comprehensive site.
I was browsing the first few posts, and I saw a flag was needed for Punjab. Since the game takes place in the 19th century, and knowing that Punjab was ruled then by the Sikhs, I suggest using the Sikh flag for Punjab.

if i remember correctly, someone said they tried crete but didn't think it came out too well... i just made one myself, and if i ask nicely, hopefully it'll be posted in the next few days so you could chose whichever you preferred

because...
crete was an autonomous state from roughly 1898-1913; it's included in the game because it's fundamental in greek history - the way things were going, it could have remained with turkey, been given to egypt, or (after petitioning) united with greece.

Wow. I didnt know that! I thought after greece declared independence from the Ottomans Crete joined with them. They must have joined Greece because I'm 99% sure Crete is part of Greece now.

crete is part of greece now, yes... greece expanded very slowly - her modern borders include lands that were previously under french, italian, british, bulgarian, or turkish control; the major reason being that none of the great powers wanted to weaken the 'sick man of europe' because they feared a strong russian influence in the balkans...

the shield graphic should be the white cross on a blue font, but with a bicephal eagle, unless you will try to have several different ones, otto's for example was used only for a very short while (naturally since he left quickly). The main flag of course is the "sea flag" which from what i understand will be the sprite flag. For the shield flag i strongly suggest one with a bicephal eagle, to my knowledge the one-headed eagle was only in the flag of the pontian greeks (in trebizond and other cities of Pontus). I could of course be wrong about the one-headed eagle not being used that extensively, however the bicephal eagle- black on a yellow font- was always the second symbol of the revolution (as is depicted in various paintings from the period). And certainly it is worth trying to make a shield that the players who control greece like, and greeks as well

where do these countries keep coming from? they're multiplying like rabbits! you know, back i was a kid, not just anyone could have a country; but now anyone can have one... no one knows how to take care of them, either... it's a shame

seriously, if you are also scripting for countries that might have been (had a war gone the other way, etc.) - may i suggest these?
