I am looking forward to the game and hoping that there is much in it to surprise me; altough I have trawled through all the diaries I think there is still a good portion of the game detail and mechanics that I am yet to understand. So to pass the time until it's released what surprises are you expecting to find?

I'll start

I've still yet to see a good view of the tech tree, I'm really hoping that the years, models and late period has been properly thought through so that you can research and build Blackburn Buccaneers in 1958/62 to sink Soviet Sverdlov class cruisers.

Victoria has epic landings. Then again the combat system is 100 times simpler. We can only hope.

That could be good or bad and given how hard AI programing is i'd guess it would more then likely be horrible. I recall in HoI3 that 350+ brigade invasions of a single province in German taking place with total surprise in 1940 was one of the many things that made game annoying to the point of unplayable.

Well, of course I was referring to a sort of "realistic" landing - and if we talk about HoI3 then this adjective has little (if not no) meaning :p ;) .

BTW, another thing that would surprise me positively would be the ability of the AI to conduct smart airborne operations.

Playing 1.3BETA2, I reduced the visibility and costs of transports..then AI was able to launch pretty successful landings on France and more importantly quickly bringing new troops and thus reducing the chance of immediate counter-attack. I also hope that AoD will succeed this without using this weird way..
