This is a hodgepodge of stuff in one thread to avoid spamming my rubbish all over the forum which would be unpleasant.
1) I am playing my first game of Germany (normal difficulty) and tweaked the difficulty file in db so the neutrals get a bonus of 50 to industry, resources, manpower and research. I need to know if the result is much different from an unmodded game. The war between Nat China and Japan lasted until Dec 1939 when Japan came to own China and her siblings. The total casualties were over 1.2 million Chinese bagged and tagged versus 550,000 Japanese fulfilling their bushido vows. Those numbers seem quite high to me compared to my games as Nat China. Another change I saw was Poland had 14 units in each province before my attack went in. During the fighting, Poland sometimes managed to muster over 40 units in fights, though of course these were often the same units being regurgitated between ongoing support defense missions. In the end, Poland lost 156,000 futile resistance fighters versus 66,500 (yes, high) innocent German blokes unfairly gunned down. My not so glamorous kill ratio is due to the higher tech than usual for Poland as well as I was outnumbered two to one. I'm in 1940 now so I don't have any more data to compare yet.
2) I want to spice up the bland icon graphics that look the same for all nations but am unsure what graphics packs work with AoD. I'm assuming the files are the same but just to be safe, how are Cpack's icons with AoD? I just found them on a random google search. I think the AoD devs missed a trick in not swapping in some funky user-made icons.
3) I modded the misc file 'naval str damage (all naval units versus naval units)' to 0.89 as per another poster's advice. I don't know why exactly 0.89 but now naval battles are realistically damaging without overdoing it. I sweat blood trying to find the poster's name to credit him but the thread is now hopelessly lost in the quagmire of forgotten threads of the past. So everyone do this change, stop using gamey 10+ CVs in a stack, and finally have your ships do some damage (and take a fair share as well).
4) I've seen screenshots showing the losses on pop-ups. How do you edit your game so the battle victory/loss pop-ups include the casualties?
Thanks for the upcoming feedback.
