AoD Manual background picture

Does anyone know how to remove (or at least not show) the background picture on the AoD manual (the picture of the stuka) at all please?

I find the picture distracting and the manual not easy to read on the computer because of this.

I've got the latest version of the free Adobe Reader, but I don't have Acrobat itself.

There was a thread about this when AoD was released. I had access to Acrobat at work and it did it very easily [IIRC 'remove watermark']- but I'm afraid I dont recall anyone offering any other solution.
