Hey, just wanna say that AoD is a damn fine piece of code. It could be called Hearts of Iron 2 Ultimate - and I rarely have positive opinion in this world filled with buggy non-working crap software. The only thing I miss is when the size of naval bases limit the amount of supplies, like it does in HoI3.

All in all, after "trying it out", I finally bought it, just now.

I love AOD, what I hate from HOI 3 is exactly what you like however.

Size of Naval bases restricting supplies as much as they do sometimes.

More along the lines of i hate how when I invade Europe I have perpetual supply shortages even though i own every major port in France.

I like how the Front AI has matured. If they could give the AI "Hard Difficulty" settings without the penalties for the human player that would be fantastic. In the Barbarossa Battle Scenario (one of the few that still works due to redevelopment) the front AI puts up a great defense as the Soviets and an even greater invasion as the Germans. In HOI2:DD Arma I was smacking the AI around on Hard difficulty. Mostly due I assume to stacking penalty revision and actual intelligence in handling small encirclements.

To ashur:
There´s a mod or file that makes that possible.
It´s called Emu something.
It´s made by BlueEmu i think.
You can search one of his post and pm him.

And yes this game is great. The little things added to battle and supply mechanics are just espectacular.

If you have HOI2 ARM its the same game(basics) but like its on steroids. Everything is better. AI, more events, Balance, its not as gamey either. There are some new things like the intell system buts its pretty easy to get a handle on. I love it mway more than HOI3.

Which begs the question....and its one I'd like an honest unbiased opinion on..
Is HoI II AoD better than HoI III WITH SF? Weeeell someone had to ask!

Yes. Semper Fi adds a lot things, good and bad (Win a naval battle at the English channel as Germany in 1940, you get an event saying the allies get a major victory in 1944). AoD fixes just about everything that was wrong in HoI2 and also adds more depth to everything.

I have played both AoD and HOI3 SF recently, and I have to say that, overall, I like AoD better.

There are many features of HOI3 SF that I like better and would love to see blended with the better features of AoD, but I fear this is simply a pipe dream that will never be seen. It would be great to see HOI3 intelligence, technology, and diplomacy schemes worked into the graphics of AoD, but I would like to see a compromise between the number of provinces in each game (too many IMHO in HOI3, and not enough in AoD). I also like the brigade concept in HOI3 a little better.

And as far as the learning curve, HOI3 has a steeper one than AoD for me. It is more of a departure from the original HOI games in terms of interface and graphics, plus a lot of different/new features.
