Anyone spot any national focuses that give an extra technology slot?

Not sure I understand your post. You ask if there are extra slots in the NF trees (there are) then go on to talk about how your going to beeline them when you play suggesting you already know they are there!

This isn't meant to be harsh but I just want to clarify in case I'm missing something!

And yes they are powerful but sometimes you may need or want infrastructure instead or you urgently need to fix a political or diplomatic situation.

I'll have to wait until I play it to see how OP additional research slots are. I hope there are scenarios where it would pay off more to go other routes early.

depending on how early or late you go to war, there will certinaly be scenerios where this is good or bad

It seems like the Polish and French WWWs were smarter to go another route due to pressing problems in the historical options.

There are no extra research slots in the tech trees. The generic focus tree has one extra slot for all countries, and two extra slots if they manage to become a major power.

I see them in the tech tree in all of the countries.... I'm not sure if any can be found in the NF tree. Good point though I can probably just go back and look at the DDs for countries, but I don't think they went into a great deal of detail into the focuses.

Those are from the NF tree. There aren't any in the tech tree.
