Anyone remember EU?

While nosing around the site, I managed to pick up something I hadn't seen before. Durham joined these boards precisely one day before I did yet have managed nearly four times the number of posts. That's dedication if I ever saw it.

Will I was looking at this I thought it might be interesting to remember what was happening in the EU world in this week last year. I managed to find this lot which is far from exhaustive:

Ah, the memories...

This little Norwegian apparently joined about a year ago. And chose his nick to protest that Norway wasn't a playable nation... in the GC, that is.

Scary thought...I've been regestered for only about half as long as you have and I have nearly five times as many posts. And, of course, all of them are quality posts (contrary to what LD is about to say).

When I joined I wanted the user name "Torquemada" since I was playing a game as Spain at the time. Some other nasty person had beaten me to it though (except that I have never seen a post from him) so I went with the abreviated version instead: MrT. Since approximately my second week on the board I've had the FOOL!!! "rank" (due to a post I made in the GD forum).

I came in so late because none of my supposed friends had bothered to tell me about EU, so it wasn't until I read about EU II that I even found out about the game. Tragedy...sheer tradedy.

Naw. Not any more. I incorrectly thought that you were spamming your way up the post ticker. Now I realize only 40% of your posts are not of the quality type.

I realize now the main difference is that I have a job.

The funny thing is, I registered in August of last year yet you have ten times the number of posts I do, MrT!

Actually, there was one thing about EU that I liked better than EU2: the dots that showed the relative military, political, diplomatic and economic strength for a specific country. It's better than having no info on the relative economic strength of your allies!(or enemies)

But, Leglaen, those were flawed in every way.

Still, I'd like some realistic assesment at the country selection screen (select Zimbabwe instead of England, and you get the same dots).

Well I joined a month after LD, but have never had a "job." So ALL of my posts have had to be HIGH quality posts. Spam, ME? Never. I participated on the EU1 boards mostly as loudmouth back when we used to have the big debates about which CoT should go where for the IGC (Bows to the General in memory of that fine contribution to EU gaming). I also did some strategy discussions in those days.

I also stuck my head in some AARs, but I was just considering doing an AAR for the first time when EU2 was getting ready to came out. So I held off until I picked it up and did the first Bburg AAR for EU2 instead of doing just another IGC Bburg. I also committed the sacrilege of trading in my copy of EU1 to help pay for EU2 (I know, I regret it, not that I would really play EU1 still, but just on principle, there were so many other games to trade in instead).

So that's why my post count is lower than some of the spam-meisters around here.

At first i tried to get a high number of posts. But then i discoverd the RPG forum. And i got adicted. I still read AAR's but less.
