I decided to play with matri-marriage disabled (in the new rules). I also decided to halve the diplomatic range too because what the hell, why not?
I'm noticing sneaky countesses, duchesses, queens and emperors all over the map going to devious lengths to make sure their children are born with their mother's dynasty, circumventing my ban on matri-marriage! They're all marrying lowborn nobodies with terrible stats and traits.
The Byzantine Empress is funny. Konstantios Isauros (the emperor on the throne in 769) died quickly from the scourge of the green skull. His weak son quickly followed in his footsteps and died of the green skull disease, but not before his wife had given birth to a girl, who became empress at 0-years old. She was still empress at 16 and, unable to marry any lowborn men, married her father's younger brother! She married her uncle to get around my matri-marriage ban!
She's had 8 kids so far, 3 girls and 5 boys. All 5 boys died before 16 due to being inbred (3 died of cancer). 2 of the girls are inbred, but not the firstborn who will be empress herself eventually (she should survive a while, she's not inbred or anything).
I wonder what devious tactics she will use to get around my matri-marriage ban!
