I've started playing Victoria, but as you said my main problem with it is the time frame. Even if I do my best as Afghanistan I can't really industrilize until 1850, and then I don't have enough time to conquer the whole world. 
Otherwise it's the lack of time which probably keeps me away from Victoria (because I need to continue to play EU2 in MP).
