As mentioned on today's stream, the bonusses for the game will arrive on the same day, so your bonus copy of CKII and CKII converter, has been specifically confirmed as well to arrive on the 13th of august.
They really need to release CK2 now so everyone will have two weeks to get something started to USE in the converter.
The reason they wont give it is possibly because you could cancel the pre order and just get a free CK2.
Oh... I figured you pay full-price for a pre-order. The money is already gone... right?
AFAIK Steam can give your money back from a pre order if you contact their customer support.
Indeed. Steam will cancel any preorder at any time up until it officially launches.
I skipped CK2, so i'm very pleased that i''ll be getting it for free.

Oh... shows what I know. Anyway... seems kind of pointless then. I'm sure most people will just start an EUIV game and leave the older one rotting on the hard drive.

I seriously doubt the amount of people who would cancel would be significant. And, it IS just a download. So Paradox has not physically lost anything. But by releasing it early, they could get a lot more hype for the new game. I'm no marketing whiz, but that makes more sense to me.

Well, I will say this, you missed out. As a LONG time Paradox gamer, CKII is one of their most polished games to date. If you skipped it because you played CK I and you thought it would be as cumbersome and quirky, you were mistaken, it rocks and is a significant advancement in Paradox's UI design. So, play your EU4 when it comes out, but don't sell that CKII!!! Go back and play it! Several of the DLC packs for CKII made for VERY unique gameplay as well (particularly Republics and Old Gods which allow playing Trade Republics with some new mechanics, and Pagans, also with some unique mechanics).
yeah, I also skipped CK2 and I want to thoroughly play EU4 before trying a new game, but I guess I'll keep it for 2-3 years from now when I get bored of EU4.
Is the pre-order bonus just the basic CKII? Otherwise sounds a bit like you have to buy the expansions in that case or .. ?
i believe you would just get the base game i mean come on i dont think they would give us every bit of dlc for the game i think its quite generous that they are giving us a 39.99 game(on steam) for free, who knows maybe on the release of eu4 there might be a price drop on other paradox titles so you can get the dlc then
Unless you want to play as a pagan, Muslim, republic, or start the game in 867 instead of 1066, you really don't need the expansions. A couple of minor features require the expansions but the vast majority of them are included in free patches.
