So I've been messing around with the builder after reinstalling Imperator for the first time in a year, and discovered a few things:
Firstly, building prestige can be increased by building type or material; pyramids are more prestigious than buildings or towers, and gold is more prestigious than the numerous materials available (including stone, ebony, silver to name a few)
Secondly, the reason prestige is important is a higher tier unlocks better effects
The effect selection is kind of confusing. "Tax and commerce needs 140 prestige", I interpreted as there's some individual prestige bar for each effect type, but it actually means "Tax and commerce..." (of the tier you're hovering over, not specified in tooltip) "...requires 140 prestige"
But how do we get the tier 4 effects if a gold pyramid isn't enough for 140 prestige, we ask?
Apparently, "prestige is increased as the Great Wonder ages". This leads me to believe you'd have to construct a level 1-3 wonder wait for it to accumulate prestige over time, and then edit/upgrade it with better effects. Makes sense, right?
Hahahahaha, wrong! I have a great wonder in Rhodes, which I've recently conquered, and it's only tier 2 but for some reason I have the tier 4 effect active. I can't edit it, only destroy it. Its prestige bar is at 52 and doesn't seem to be ticking up over time.
I have no idea what's going on and this seems incredibly uninuitive. Open to any explanations/input so we can figure out as a community how to build proper monuments to our own hubris.
