Anyone ever tried Japan's "Strike North" option?

How did you feel about it? Is it worth taking this option at all? When is the best time to strike them? What kind of army set up is required for this? I am tempted to give it a try, Thx!

Fighting USSR as Japan is a logistical hell, no victory points, no infrastructure, awful terrain and climate, no airports, I guess infantry with logistics as high lvl as possible and aa added to them would work...
Edit: an option would be just going at war with China when they provoke you and then attack USSR after Germany has declared war on them, you won't get much land but will help Germany by making USSR not send all of their troops against Germany.

Yeah against the current AI this is almost an exploit. The war between Germany and USSR will always eventually start no matter what, and when it does, the AI will not be able to manage two fronts at all. For some reason, the German AI does manage to keep some forces on all the fronts, but the Soviet AI just keep reshuffling forces between their European and Asian theaters, and literally half of their army is always in transition either one way or the other, so they just can't put any kind of resistance in either direction.

Use bisycile divisions, after you are done with China in 39 or so you can build up over 2 years so build up infrastruce on the border of Russia and the invade with 2 army groups, 20 with pure infantry with support euqippement and cas is enough, you will march through Siberia and you can reach Moscow before the German, in my best run I got 2/3rds of Russia and then attacked the Germans ^^.
