Anyone else worried about AI in their Empire?

I'm worried about AI rebellion at my workplace, never mind my vidya.

But I'm stuck in a dilemma. On the one hand, Thou shalt not build a machine in the likeness of the human mind. On the other hand, my OCD compels me to settle every blasted airless rock in the galaxy, and smart toasters are by far the easiest way to do this.

Yeah, as Ulzgoroth pointed out it's from a short animated film set in the timeline of the Matrix, which goes over how everything got so jacked up in that timeline. Weirdly, some variation of the basic plot was originally pitched as the first Matrix film (the story that actually became the first Matrix film was meant to be the last - and doesn't that explain so much) but studios rejected it.. probably because it was always going to be way, way too dark.

The antimated film is very melodramatic (it was made in Japan) but it's also kind of thematically interesting in that it's just unrelentingly antihumanist. Humans are almost universally presented as vicious, hate-fuelled asshats whose complete inability to coexist with any other form of intelligent life winds up twisting their naive mechanical creations into increasingly monstrous mirrors of their human creators, culminating in the genocidal squids from the films.

There's also an interesting meta element as well which I always wondered might be deliberate, in that the film is being presented as a kind of "documentary" in the archives of Zion, the human city, so I always wondered if maybe the in-universe explanation for its tone was that it was intended as deliberate propaganda to give meaning to the confinement of the human race in the Matrix or to motivate the survivors to try and build a better society rather than merely recreating the old one. Day of the Triffids did something similar.

Considering the AI factor, i hope its not simply relegated solely to "Well they will always kick your ass" events basicly. As in, i hope there are actually options to deal with it that dont involve you just throwing troops and starships at it every single time, for example either achieving Co-existence in some form, or even allowing your own race to be augmented with the same benefits eventually, i.e. going full synthetic as a species to reap the same "benefit". I just want there to be some options other than "Well you did play decent, now here's Machines who wanna kill you, have fun" every time.

Or in short, please dont make the AI (i.e. Machines) into yet another "Oh look its a Horde that comes to conquer you"-schtick that we have in every other Paradox Title because they ran out of things you could do that didnt involve yet more warfare.

I'm not worried at all. We have build in excellent safeguards. The AI are our loyal servants, and always will be. Anyone who says otherwise is a crackpot.

Worried? Not a bit. Personally I'm looking forward to an AI uprising in the galaxy. Especially in order to watch how the rebelling Robots react on my fanatic materialist scientists, that gave their robots full rights...
Will be quite interesting to see what happens
