Anyone else notice loading up saves is massively faster now with 1.23?

Maybe it was somewhere deep in the dev notes, but on my Laptop that I am surprised even runs EU4 it would take forever to get a save game to load, in particular the map screen you see before actually starting the save. I found a get around was to hit the HRE map first, for some reason and cursed when I forgot to do that. Now, it's just as fast any way I load it up.

Well, I can see the saves loading faster now but for a different reason I moved the game to the SSD dedicated for games, which is separated from the OS SSD. Until now, for some reason known only by me, I installed EU on a normal HDD. Probably somehow I considered that EU might need several hundread GBs of space...

Yes noticed that as well ! It used to be the case that I clicked and went to brew some coffee or something to avoid sitting around waiting for the load.

Was very happy to see the difference in my first CoC campaign

I've noticed that sometimes after playing the game long enough it goes back to loading them really slowly for some reason, which seems to persist until restarting the whole PC. Normally, however, the load times are much better now, which is good to see.

Well I am extremely dumb. Because I first played it on SSD just to test it in comparison with HDD. After that, on one of my Windows clean restores from a ghost image, I installed it on a HDD instead of SSD, even if I knew that the performance difference is big

EDIT: My ghost images don't contain games, only applications and programs, and each time I restore the OS I have to reinstall non essentials. Happens 3-4 times a year.

Even with an SSD I had > 2 minute load times. (This is on a Surface Pro 3, mind you, so not the fastest machine ever...) Haven't played 1.23 yet, but when I learned about the mapmode trick the heavens opened up and I had 5 sec load times.
The fix in 1.23 and the mapmode trick show it was clearly a bug and not a hardware issue. But yeah, SSDs are nice all-around anyway...

Ah, I was going to say. Its 12 seconds from launch to main menu for me, and a few seconds for save loads. Before I got this PC I could prepare toast and a coffee whilst I was waiting for it to load!
