Anyone else dying to order but having reservations?

I am eagerly awaiting this, but to be completely honest, I am holding off...not just because it will be cheaper after a while and I can wait. The MAIN reason is that Paradox just has a reputation, to me at least, of releasing their games in a state that pretty much requires a couple of patches before they start being smooth, playable and fully enjoyable. I just feel like I would be wasting money buying it before say...1.2 is released, as much as I want to dive in NOW (which I do.) Am I the only one who feels this way? I mean, I still cannot even play Sengoku, even with current patch, as it freezes repeatedly around a certain point and a ton of other people have the same issue. I am afraid of similar stuff here.

Watch the preview videos and read the posts of people who have the preview version of the game. It's pretty much unanimous that the game is very stable. Also, you kind of have to buy it now if you want to get that "early adopter" bonus for people who pre-order.

As a Paradox customer of more than ten years I can tell you that I've been hurt by poor QA before. But you can take my word that I believe this will be an excellent release.

Not really. I know the initial release may be wonky in some aspects but Vic2 was fine on day 1 and I am going to buy this one on day 1 too.

It does not need to be 150% perfect to be immense fun...

James Allen of outofeight.com has been posting about the beta regularly as well as posting Youtube videos, and he has been nothing if not positive (as opposed to his impressions of Vicky 2). I trust his opinion enough to make this a Day One purchase (unless the demo proves him to be totally full of it).

No paradox game I have ever bought have ever ben a disapointment(actualy still play them all, the 3 of them). Ok mabe not CK1 as mutch anymore the videoes and AARs of CK2 have ruined CK1 for me

I wasn't too keen on Sengoku tbh.

But yeah I can't play CK1 anymore, I just keep wondering why I can't plot to take the throne without racking up 2k prestige or why I have to assassinate my infertile wife to divorce here and then getting kinslayer for it.

Not even for a second. They deliberately made the beta-period extra long on CK2 for more polish, and even if they hadn't I still would've pre-Purchased it. It's a highly anticipated and over-due title for me and my natural pessimism (positive attitude, just as a general outlook) can keep it's metaphorical mouth shut.

Every game has some gremlins on release, without a Minecraftian beta phase it's more or less inevitable. Given that previewers have been unrestrictedly Let's Playing it for months now I don't foresee any playability problems with the release as long as your hardware isn't too exotic/rubbish. There will probably be plenty of bugs on the balance/exploit/localisation level but I'd be surprised if there were any widespread showstoppers given the amount of hands-on exposure CK2 has had.

OTOH, if you're not bothered about the pre-order bonus and you're not getting a boxed copy then sure, why not hang on to your cash till the 15th and see what people find? It's not as if Steam is going to run out of stock.

I've been playing the beta since October, and Crusader Kings II is by far the most stable game Paradox has made. I've had no crashes other than when new events were added. I am currently have some minor graphical issues (borders flashing and map text not appearing about a third of the time I run the game), but hopefully they will be ironed out by release. It might be weirdness with the NVIDIA drivers; I never had any issues with my ATI card. This is certainly not a "wait two patches" release, unless they really mess something up between now and the 14th.

this game could have been released back in november of last year if they really wanted and THAT version would be full of bugs and crashes. the fact they have delayed until mid feburary 2012 is an indication paradox is taking QA seriously. so my advice would be to do what i did and just preorder. i got 2 free DLCs as well which was nice!

Vic2 was outright unplayable on Day 1. You couldn't make it past 1870 without close to a million rebels rising up, and it only got worse as time progressed. Honestly, I would recommend waiting on CK2. Vic2 sucked for a while, but once patched, its a great game, and I feel that a lot of people are going to experience that Swords of the Stars 2 feeling when they start playing CK2.

I'm really, really hyped up for this game and their is like a 90% chance of me purchasing it, but I won't fully commit until I've played the demo (which I'm currently downloading).
