Now that Rollo has better stats and starts as a norse pagan in Trondenlag (sp), has anyone ever actually seen him do anything? I've watched him for several observer games and he just happily sits there as marshall until the day he dies.

I'm trying to work out a strategy to have him take over Normandy, but it seems like a pipe dream at this point. He will never become a landless adventurer on his own (and even if he did he probably isn't programmed to go after Normandy). And as the count of Trondenlag I can't prepare an invasion of Normandy for him. Just Frisia or Brittany, despite the fact that Normandy is just as big as those realms.
Anyone have any ideas? Right now i'm thinking i should conquer Mortain then invade Brittany and Frisia, to give me a base. Then just bide my time until France fractures and hope I can grab Normandy in bits and pieces. Or maybe I should swear fealty first, conquering it from the inside. But the rule i'm setting for myself is no conquesting outside of Northern Francia and Frisia until i'm poised to move on England. Or maybe I should just take Wessex first and move south from there? But my worry with that is that any Norse vassals in Southern England won't become Norman, and thus never English. I want to make sure my realm is acceptably Norman before trying to push on The Isles.
Should I stay Norse Pagan for the prepared invasions? Convert for the invasion CBs from the Pope? Reforming Norse won't be an option for me until I have Brittania completely controlled (unless I manage to inherit the holy sites). But man, becoming The Fylkyr will be really nice and help me with my world conquest a ton.
Yeah, this isn't a typical global conquest game. I want to try and make the world English under the de Normandie banner, but you can't make English without Normans. >
And I don't want to make the game a snoozefest by just using the 1066 start either.
P.S. No mods. I'm trying to do this vanilla style.
