Small bugs vs potentially funless mechanics... I would accept it as a released version to only have those kind of bugs.
If it's fun during the full play, I don't care about a little bug that doesn't make the game crash.

I'm more concerned about how easy and predictable it seems to be to plot against someone: there is X% of success and Y% to be caught, do you want to proceed...
This is horrible for RP and gaming view... Too much info
that's not all that different from plots in 2, though

there is a weird demographic of paradox fans who always buy the games but seemingly hate the devs/studio, as if they were forced to buy the games and DLC and can't just do something else with their time. they want Paradox to fail and "improve" by their standards, yet still spend money on the games.

even weirder are the people who lurk the forums constantly criticizing the games and the studio for months and don't buy the games, but spend hours every day here.

TBF on that point; there are remarkably few grand strategy franchises out there, fewer still that reegularly see sequels or expansions, and most are simply civ-style "kill everybody else to win" and with few truly dynamic systems

so that being said, unless your fine with barely enough games in your steam library to count on 2 hands, buying a paradox game, regardless of your opinion of the devs or studio, becomes an inevitability

I think a release in the vain of “Imperator Rome” for this game would have massive implications on its ability to bring in new players to the product. However unlike Imperator Rome I believe the “already converted” player base would return when those issues were ironed out.

Not to say this will happen though, it would take a serious miscalculation to achieve this with CK3 with the proven game mechanics laid down by its predecessor.

Imperator Rome was pretty much a clean slate, whereas the first CK3 stream felt like CK2 being played on a new engine with new features and 3D portraits, How can that fail?

Being critical is not something that is to be shamed.

Paradox has gone from being a small-medium sized company to being a big company. Many game studios have failed before in that transition. Many still will fail in the future. I hope that CKIII is successful, but I'm not going to mindlessly gobble up whatever shit is thrown my way just because it's from Paradox's buttox. Let's see what state the game is when it comes out before we pretend we're not trudging down the same path that burned us with Imperator.

Long live King William and his magnificent hair.

I am probably one of those mentioned peoples who has gone from being in awe of Paradox games to shitting about them everywhere while still buying and playing them.

For me the horrible mid/lategame performance of HOI4 and Stellaris (even after all the patches they are still almost unplayable) plus the botched Imperator start were what changed me.

To me the current signs are very great but I am not preordering games anymore until a few days before release when I see the first gameplay hours of streamers I can trust. That said all looks very promising and I will most certainly buy it.

I think it's natural that things seem to be going "too" well. Everything we've been shown about CK3 so far has pointed to the game being, for the most part, an improvement over its predecessor, and something that (most of) the playerbase will enjoy very much. I certainly have based my decision to buy it around that, and am very eager to play it already.

However, to sprinkle a little bit of rain on my own parade, I think it's safe to say we are still in the dark about some areas of gameplay. We only have two more dev diaries until launch and we still haven't gotten much information on, for instance, how clan governments work, or on the more specific workings of holy wars and crusades, etc.

That's not to say that this opens the game up for disappointment, of course. I just find it curious that the last DDs seem to focus around the more technical aspects of CK3, while there are still some design elements and systems that haven't been showcased.

Crusader states deffo won't be in, and probably back to old system of highest WS gets the kingdom
why would you assume that when they already said on release the Crusade system will match what's in ck2? Are you just trying to be a pessimist?

We know Byzantium is going to be feudal at launch and they went to war in the first stream. At this point warfare is my only gripe. CK2's combat system was an opaque mess but it was at least immersive if you paid attention, the new system doesn't look that interesting or that it will require too much thought. I'm excited about the rest of the game though, it's starting to look better than I thought.
The big thing I think will be interesting about wars is the knight system which they haven't shown much on. I personally hope to lead my entire family into battle and be slaughtered to the last. They could do a better job of making the battle screen look like more things are going on than the bar sliding from side to side even if it is informative.

i am kind of worried about economic aspect of the game. we have very limited knowledge concerning buildings, province development etc. I expect possibilities and opportunities to develop my domain peacefully. also, i am slightly concerned that the game will be too easy.

It's not that we don't follow Pdox for decades now. The quintessence: CK3 will suck. In one year it's probably quite good. And in 4 years it's unaffordable but great.

Apropos unaffordable: Have you ever checked out how many Paradox shares Fredrik Wester owns? Something like 800 million Euro worth. The market capitalization of the company is about 2.4 billion Euro. In case you wonder where the money goes.

Re Unaffordable...
Thing is by the time it gets to that point, there will be several DLCs on top of the Base Game.

BUT...

One doesn't generally buy everything all at once...

For example, I bought the original CK2 Base Vanilla Game, and played that for several years before I bought my first DLC. Then, when I did, I bought two-Legacy of Tome, and Old Gods-because they were on sale...

So, even though the Base Game, and all DLCs-at full price-might qualify as "Unaffordable", they're not really, because you buy them either one at a time, or during one of PDox's outrageous everything-for-only-a-few-dollars sales...

Yep. Although I tried out CK2 before any DLCs came out, I didn't really get into it. It wasn't until after all DLCs were released that I decided to buy the whole lot (on sale for about $80, so not a bad price at all). These days many games are starting at $60 without any expansions, so $80 for everything CK2 is really affordable in comparison.
