Anybody else get constant CTD's when fighting civil wars?

I'm playing as the Byzantine Empire where civil wars last for decades and I can't go 1-year without the game CTD'ing. It only ever seems to happen during civil wars, especially when someone new is called in on the side of those I am fighting. Anyone else get that a lot or is it just me?

Bah, I think I'll have to abandon this Byzantine game. Something is obviously very very wrong somewhere. I've just had 10 CTD's in 10 minutes. Literally.

There are two crash issues in vanilla 1.092: one relating to autosaves, which doesn't sound like your issue, and one relating to retinues attached to a republic patrician who dies without heir - that could perhaps be your problem? We don't have a fix our workaround for you, but you might ask for help in the User Mods forum.

do you have armies in boats that belong to the vassal that just joined in?

i've noticed it crashing when this happens.

I think it's the patrician bug. I didn't have any vassal levies in boats (except once out of about 30 crashes) but the crashes got more frequent the further I got. I think it was a patrician getting older and older because I kept reloading the last save, but eventually he got so old that the game would crash almost as soon as I loaded it.

So there's no known workaround for this bug? That's crazy. That can ruin games for people. As it just did for me. Most fun game I've ever had so far. =(

Well, you can play without the Republic DLC loaded. You can load the save game as a Republic, and if your patrician has no heir dismiss his retinues. You can ask in User Mods how to edit his retinues out of the save game.
