I like the other features of Conclave, but I do not like the new education system. Is there anyway to turn it off without turning all of Conclave? It seems out of place considering what Conclave is about and I thought it was meant for way of life.

I agree it would've fit better into Way of Life, but it's an integral part of Conclave and the only way to disable it is to disable the entire DLC. It would probably be possible to mod it out, but I don't know off anyone actually doing that.

You can mod it out relatively easily. Add "always = no" to the potentials for the childhood foci, remove the check for "Zeus" in the old childhood/ward/guardian event files, add an event that removes the new childhood traits from anyone who has them, and create (or mod the Conclave events) that add education traits (as the existing ones are closely tied to the new education system).

Would it be also possible to switch on the "child needs guardian" alerts and make the AI assign guardians again somehow?

No idea about the alert, but it might be possible to get that back somehow. Regarding the assigning of guardians, I believe that there were events before where vassals would ask to tutor children that lacked guardians, which probably could be adapted to fire more frequently and could get a bit more AI logic to ensure that the AI makes somewhat rational decisions.

I looked at the files and yeah you're right, there was an event where a vassal would ask to become a guardian. But I guess because the AI no longer uses the "educate child" interaction with Conclave, more events like that should be made to make sure kids get educated properly.

You could probably add an event that fires when a child turns 6 that has the liege of the child pick a "focus" and then have it accept and refuse guardianship offers based on that (e.g. "I want this child to have high Martial, so I'm not accepting offers from someone that would give the child high Learning"). However, based on some experimentation with the old and new childhood events, the education trait assignment does not appear to happen automatically upon adulthood any longer if you have Conclave and disable the Conclave grading system (which is based on the Conclave childhood/adolescence foci), so you would probably have to add a new on_adulthood event that is modelled after the old education outcome system (I believe the percentages are on the wiki).

I'm visioning more of a mix of the two systems myself, so that the skills of the guardian influence how well the child's education turns out. But it would work like what you described, so that the parent will accept guardianship from someone with the relevant education. I wonder if it would even be possible to make a targeted decision to "search a guardian" for a child and then use another targeted decision to "appoint guardian" and somehow make the AI use it reasonably, to replace the "educate child" interaction.

This is a bit off topic, but has anyone else noticed that with the new education system, sometimes the results of decisions don't match up with the descriptions? I see a lot of events where If you pick the first option, the child should get (or has a chance to get) trait A, and should get trait B if you pick the second option, but when I pick the first option, the child gets trait B instead of trait A. And sometimes, they get both trait A and trait B.
