Any way to keep the army when annex Communist China, play as NC

Play as Nationalist China, seek to keep the army of Communist China when annex it.

I think it's quite reasonable regarding you can keep the army of other cliques when annex them as NC.

Not without modifying the game.
I can't test this right now but I think backup [Hearts of Iron directory]/scenarios/1936/chc_36.inc then open it in notepad, then add the line

regular_id = CHI

after

{ tag = CHC

near the beginning, then save it.

edit: if you're playing a different scenario than 1936 do something similar above but instead of that file use the chc_[whatever].inc file in that scenario's folder.

But do I need to play the scenario from the begining again or can I have the effect from a saved game?

Think you need to start over for it to have any effect. It's possible that you could change it in the save file though.
