Hi all,

I've been playing an Ironman game with the Ruler Designer enabled - so obviously not interested in achievements, rather just enjoy the idea of no savegame safety net. My plan was create an entertaining dynasty and then switch characters after about 100-150 years to something more challenging, while watching how my original family does on its own.

But as you probably know the game won't let me switch characters from the loading screen. Figured I'd be able to either disable Ironman altogether and switch then, or at least use a console command, but this didn't work. Is there any way to hack this function into an Ironman save?

This is sort of a repost - I asked how to do this in Quick Answers, but thought I'd try in the general forum too since many folks don't read the QA thread (I rarely do). So apologies for the duplicate, I'm just hoping to see if there's any solution whatsoever since I've sunk a lot of hours into this playthru. Thanks!

You *might* be able to get the game to think that the ironman save has been compromised by cutting your internet connection. But that may just prevent acheivements, not change the game mode.

Ah, I found it - Ironmelt - as it's not a true "mod" it's not in any mod databases, has its own website instead.

But.... doesn't work whatsoever for me. All the savegames I tried to decode with it are exported as 1KB text files with no actual information. Seems odd, because they're still updating the app as of May 2016, you'd think they'd notice it's pretty much useless (at least for CK2).

Oh well. Surprised that there aren't any other workarounds for this. Live & learn, and throw 8+ hours down the drain I guess!

with no actual information.

I haven't used it, but it says it requires the latest version of NET, so at least 4.6x . So maybe you miss that ?
Well anyway, ask in the thread. No point in doing in here.
