Any tips for Khan of Khans in current version ?

So, I was giving the Mongols bookmark another go, with Conclave and Horse Lords installed.

Any tips for Khan of Khans ?
I feel I botched the first invasion (tons of muslim vassals), and waited too much for threat to go down.
Also was surprised that I couldn't have vassal kings ( can only give king titles to other Khans, not create feudal vassals).

Anyway, any tips would be appreciated, this run is going nowhere
