I don't seem to be able to get the hang of using Enforce Peace, or how the AI uses it.

For example -

1 - I'm Austria, and want to enforce peace on some random OPM causing trouble - they reject every time, despite overwhelming superiority on my part.
2 - I'm Austria, and in a nice even-ish war with Poland-Lithuania. The French decide to 'Enforce Peace', however I'm perfectly able to smash up Poland, pivot around and do the same to them. I'm the no.1 great power ! I never see the AI do this except vs. the human player, too. Maybe that's just my experience, however !

How does any of that make sense ? I can't force a OPM to knock it off, nor can the AI apparently apply it sensibly.

AI will accept enforcement depending on war enthusiasm. It's easier for wars that have been dragging on.

AI enforces peace on AI too, you see it happen sometimes.

I've also experienced the AI sensing that we are about to enforce peace and peace out ahead.

Usually I spot a war which I want to get involved, such as something my rival is the aggressor.

As I send subsidies, gifts and improve relations, just before it reaches a full 100 relations, the AI peaces out with ducats and war reps. It seems to anticipate my intention to "Enforce Peace"

Has happened a number of times. The war is usually not more than 24 months old. And the warscore is going very well for the aggressor.

You'd stop every war instantly this way, as hremperor only needs positive opinion

Well yeah, if I'm the emperor I'd expect to be able to stop the wars - I can see why Regensburg or whatever would ignore England; the Emperor protects ! - but when you're definitely going to get destroyed by the imperial army ? Makes no sense. Perhaps they're trying to represent (badly) the historically limited real-world power of some emperors ?

I'd got Bohemia, Hungary, Milan in quick succession, and started work on Quantity. The French still had their vassals = lots of low quality small stacks to pick off.

Perhaps 'enforce peace' for the HRE could use imperial authority, to limit it to a degree ? It just makes no sense that it NEVER works in perfectly logical situations (and most small inter-HRE wars will be over before exhaustion/length-of-war metrics become a thing)

IME as Austria you can just enforce peace and let your PUs steamroll the opposition. It's silly that the OPM doesn't realize that rejecting is a really bad idea, but here we are. It's worth it even though they will reject.

Yeah that's what I've been doing - three or four at a time actually to keep my number of princes up. God bless those Burgundian hordes :D

I wasn't even aware that the AI ever accepted a player enforce peace. Personally I've begun to just use it as a way to get involved in wars I have no right to be involved in, usually beating the absolute tar out of someone who I've been wanting to hurt but unable to DoW because of alliance chain reasons.

Yeah I'm beginning to wonder. Seems like one of those things that probably worked at release, but was abused/was overpowered, so nerfed into nothing - rather like the logic to get countries to join the HRE.
