Any other Victoria 2 players back on Rome?

I have been playing the piss out of Rome since Vicky 2 needs a patch for the rebs. Halfway done with a game with Macedonia and will release a simplified aar on youtube about my conquests soon.

Anyway the latest patch for rome is a great surprise and have enjoyed thus far.

It's a shame so many people were put off Rome for life at the initial release. It really is a good game. You just have to dig a little deeper. Be sure to post a link to the YouTube guide! Would love to see that!

I bought Rome Gold when Heir to the Throne was announced. I really liked EU3, but I didn't want to keep playing it and get sick of it before the expansion came out. So far, I haven't gotten around to buying HttT yet because I've been busy with Rome. Now that Divine Wind is coming, I'll probably wait for that.

Between Rome, EU3, Victoria 2, and Crusader Kings 2...I need more more hours in a day. I haven't even mentioned HoI3, either.

Funny how all these games (EU:R, EU3, Vicky 2, HoI3) are essentially the same game, with the same engine, and heaps of the same mechanics, and yet each one of them is so special and unique, and satisfies certain thirsts.

After a while I'm having another Rome campaign with the latest patch, while waiting for Vicky2 to get patched. Rome sure has improved a lot, even from VV's intial version, not to mention the game without expansion.

Actually I'm on Rome hiatus until burn out of Civ 5. =) Wake me up when CK2 arrives, or they have another HOI patch that accurately reflects Russia's manpower advantage.

Mass Effect 2 - OMG. I got it on sale for $15 from GG and I must say that it is the best non-strategy game I have ever played by far. Pulled me away from Paradox completely. Hopefully, once I finish my insanity/sentinal run the Vicky2 1.2 will be released and I can come back.

I was playing RomeVV until I got ME2 however. Good times...

Bit off-topic but I think paradox should release Rome, Victoria 2, Hearts of Iron 3 and EU3 in one collectors-edition-megabox-thingy

Frankly, it's about time Paradox addressed the gaping hole between AD 1 (end of Rome) and 1066 (start of Crusader Kings).

This can easily be done with one expansion pack for each of those games.

A barbarian invasion style equivalent for Rome where you can play as Atilla or something. This can easily cover 1 AD to 473 AD, but they'd really need to develop a more intricate imperial system, as I don't think anybody left was a republic from that time on.

Then a Muslim Conquest expansion for Crusader Kings 2 now with harem dynamics! Which should cover 632 to 1453.

This only leaves that annoying historical gap between late antiquity and the dark ages (473 -632), precisely when the centralized states of EU:Rome devolved into the feudalism of CK.

I have no idea how that could possibly be handled.

Also, excited for Divine Wind. When is PI going to start rolling out with an Asia Universalis? The empires of ancient China are filled with equivalent intrigue.

Two expansions to existing titles can "easily" cover over 1000 years of history? You could fit three full Paradox games in that span of time.

While waiting for V2 patch and DW to be released I figure I just have time for an epic campaign of Rome-EU3-Vicky2 (if patch out)-HOI3.

I actually bought Civ5 before I realized there was a Steam requirement. That is an instant non-starter for me, I avoid Steam like the plague as I hate the very concept of it....so the DVD got pitched in the trash, the money got wasted, and Firaxis lost a customer for any future titles.

I've enough games to keep me going - Rome is still not an empire the way I manage it.
