Greetings all.

Haven't played in a while but I'm getting back into it. Has there been any news on an official sandbox mode that adds other AI players/kingdoms? Will they add it in a patch or an expansion? Thanks in advance.

The user map Bay at the Day has a lot of random, it's interesting to play and offer much more replay value.

So Hassat Hunter you didn't like it to not mention it? :) It's not a different play mode but the link is obvious including what to show we could expect in future updates.

Also I don't remember at all it's ever been mentioned that a Skirmish or Freestyle mod is planed, just that more random will be added in some way.

I don't understand why Paradox is giving to themselves bash on their heads by allowing people post about their own experimental games and by hiding mods for the official game. :rolleyes:

I noticed Majesty 2 players just don't know anything about this hidden forum and that's totally crazy.

It's quite possible that some RU moder will have to adapt the game a little to the RU version but I doubt or this will be rather minimal. Here a quote of the OP for the thread about this amazing maps (that obviously show to Majesty 2 official team that random was highly possible and is generating an excellent gameplay).

Hello all.

I've created a map, without any story and objectives excepted staying alive. Placement are done randomly, and monster aren't to agressive. I'm not as pretentious as saying this is the sandbox, but I tried to create something close. I specially thanks brainbag, for the help he gave me.

Also quote that updates are both full versions, both worth it and have different plus and minus, the last is more polished on many points but probably generate too easily very rude missions.
update of 21 november

update of 11 november

http://www.mediafire.com/?w5ogznmqzzn

EDIT :
you have to put the *.pak file here:
...\Majesty 2\resource\map\single_missions

IMPORTANT :
-trading posts are on the rogue house placement, and holy grounds on the dark portal. That's due to the limit of placing randomly these ones.
-DO NOT SAVE AT DAY 1

Quote that this won't work with a version locked to mods and that the install process will probably be different with first patches (don't know RU patches). As I haven't quote any RU map unlike mods, a trick is to rename mission folder and it's mi file to something like single_10, or any name like that pattern.

EDIT: Updates are in fact both full versions, the last is more polished on many points but could generate too often a very rude play.

Well I have currently my own private mod and I didn't take all X-Mod contents but copy paste some part of it or reproduce the same changes. I never found a non compatible change.

In fact X-Mod (older version than current not yet tried) and Majesty 2 to Majesty 1 RU mods have been excellent mod initiation tutorial by browsing their files, see which one was modified and what was the modification. :)

I'll try make a quick test to see if the last version of X-Mod works unmodified.

It's more easy now because since few days I organized differently my resources making much more easy to switch to one mod to another. I override files in resource.pak by all contents of resource_1_01.pak and empty resource_1_01.pak. Now resource_1_01.pak contains only my own private mod or a new mod I only need rename resource_1_01.pak.

Just for quote here a snapshot of the only mod rather beta I have done, it's just an interface change to add more rows to heroes table and the scrollbar like in last (locked) patch. It's so beta that I let it hidden in the secret sub forum. :D

No it's a mod like other, the only difference is that this one only change an interface element of the game. For more details check the User Modifications secret sub forum, see Alibaba Heroes Table Mod thread. I would have release it more publicly if I had finished it but it has many little flaws (no icons borders, hints can override it, actions icons sizes not adapted, more graphical resources requirements) that don't make it really usable even if myself I always use it with previous version of Majesty 2.

I've developed X-MOD for version 1.0.0, and so it can call some exceptions with later versions (theoretically). If you can test it on MTFK2 1.0.0, please do it. It's important for me to know there are any differences between RU and EN versions of the game.

Ideas of different people often coincide. =) I've wanted to add additional strings to heroes table too, but was late.)

But this method doesn't work with versions 1.0.0 and 1.1.88. :(

P.S. Today or tomorrow I'll release X-MOD v0.95, and next version will support MTFK2 1.0.29 RU and 1.0.97 EN.

P.P.S. Could you tell me who from administrators or moderators I may appeal to decide the issue with registration?

X-MOD is the main reason to avoid the new patch. The new camera angles in version 0.93 really bring Majesty 2 to life, it's a shame the developers won't replicate the changes. There are only a few additional changes I would make to the X-MOD camera file. cam_mapShuffleTime should be changed to 0.1 to get rid of the slow "floaty" mini map movement. It would also be nice to make keyboard scrolling faster and smoother by default.

If I recall correctly X-MOD works with version 1.0 but I haven't played the unpatched game in a long time. It is definitely compatible with version 1.0.97 as long as the files are split correctly between the two resource paks.

I am looking forward to X-Mod v0.95 :cool:

First point is that's very cool a RU modder give a look here. I have played X-mod 0.93 with the user map Day at the Bay and it seems work fully fine. I checked M2 debug and error logs and if I'm not wrong, with M2 1.0.97 original I have only one message related to an unknown property and with X-mod 0.93 and normally no other mod, I have those error messages but myself I didn't notice anything during the play.

Code:
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( win_text )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( win_title_text )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( but_yes_hint )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( but_ok_hint )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( but_not_hint )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(40):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( INTERNET_LOGIN, text )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(40):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( INTERNET_LOGIN, text )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(40):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( INTERNET_LOGIN, text )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( but_ok_visible )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( but_yes_visible )
1639.8281: .\SystemLevel\Messages\MessageSending.cpp(52):   [GUIChangeProperty() ] ERROR: ChangeProperty( but_not_visible )
I strongly doubt it's an important error, probably more coming from a small differences between RU and EU versions in one of the files modified by X-Mod more than errors coming from X-mod changes.

Ideas of different people often coincide. =) I've wanted to add additional strings to heroes table too, but was late.)
I took me some time to understand the stuff and achieve some results. As you can see in the snapshot it's not achieved. So there are many points to solve like using smaller font size for hints, understand what's the problem with streching the icons borders, and more.

If you want I could send you a more clean version with the scrollbar, original icon size and just one row added, this version should be totally clean visually and would not involve too much additional stress to video memory. Just pm an email if you want that, each modification is commented with original value and sometimes few comments to explain what I think to have understand. Just PM an email where send you some links.

But this method doesn't work with versions 1.0.0 and 1.1.88. :(
Well I don't see the reason to play the 1.0.0, I have it installed too but only to play with the editor, I just switch profiles to switch between the multiple versions I installed.

P.S. Today or tomorrow I'll release X-MOD v0.95, and next version will support MTFK2 1.0.29 RU and 1.0.97 EN.

Cool, I'm working on something too but well I'm still struggling with code exploration and test to list all possible and gameplay design. So I'm very far from any release if there is any.

About RU mods in fact I played more Majesty 1 to Majesty 2 mod but my play with X-Mod .93 give me the desire to try it with the original maps. With Bay at the Day it could involves a too rude play but that could refresh my interest in the original maps.

P.P.S. Could you tell me who from administrators or moderators I may appeal to decide the issue with registration?

Good question, the best is perhaps to open a thread with the question in the title? The point is I have no name to suggest, I hope someone will answer this.

EDIT: One point would be to have a mod forum that both community, RU and EU check sometimes to share stuff. If that cannot be the secret Paradox sub forum, why not open something else with an English language base but some publicity in RU mod forums?

Analad, how did you get the scroll bar in 1.0.97?

P.P.S. Could you tell me who from administrators or moderators I may appeal to decide the issue with registration?

Here you go

Majesty 2 is the fifth one down. On the far right you will see a list of moderators. Try PMing or Emailing one of them. Some of them are forum mods while others are Paradox employees. If a moderator can't help you someone from Paradox should be able to.

The game has plenty scrollbars since the 1.0.0. I only got from last patch the idea it was possible with this table. And in fact adding the scrollbar was easier than some other stuff in this table. I should put a standard version with only the scrollbar added and eventually one more row, so anybody that want play the 1.0.97 version can keep the scrollbar.

Ok I worked a bit on a more sample but more clean version of the heroes table. In this versions I kept the original cell size because I had still too many detail to solve to reduce them and make it clean.

I had to increase width a bit, I tried mix enough space between the scrollbar and right screen border and not push left too much the heroes table. Clearly some different setup are possible, I prefer have some margin to right to avoid move the screen without want to do it.

I also tried to increase a little the height available to win one row. Not have the old scroll buttons wins a small space but not enough. I suspect that with a very small window the hint bar will override a bit the heroes table.

The code of this version is much more clean than previous one and this version modifies only one file.
