Is there any mod that balances air forces? That is, balances the combat power of interdiction and ground attack. The overpowerment of those two features is something that ruins the game for me.

And I would actually prefer it if it does not add huge amounts of new content, I'm not really ready for that just yet.. (But the important thing is still the balancement of air power).

IRL air-to-ground attacks were devastating, especially when coupled with the proper firepower and technology (such as divebombers), so IMO it's not OP at all, more like realistic. The OP part is players using the air force in huge amounts and large stacks. Even stacks of 4 is too much to be realistic. In some MP games, players may want to modify the air stack limit to 8, sometimes even 16-26 or something like that. It's a ton less micro, but sure takes the realism out of the game, heheh.

EDIT: You should try the Total Realism Project (be sure to d/l the latest version - 0.94 beta) for more realistic air warfare. But I warn you, it takes a while to get to know how the entire combat system in the mod works, since it's a lot more realistic on the ground too. But even in TRP, historical engagements such as a few FAF or Luftwaffe aircraft being outnumbered by 4 VVS aircraft with the FAF or Luftwaffe still triumphing with very few, if any, losses, aren't really possible.

If my army is able to force the enemy army to retreat, the enemy is as good as dead. I can send out my airforce on ground attack mission (never more than four in a stack), which totally obliterates the enemy army in a day or two. Rinse and repeat for other enemy armies, and I have destroyed a nation's entire armed forces with barely losing a single man. Realistic?

I agree that air forces attacking retreating enemy units can be devastating in the sense of huge losses to manpower and equipment (strength losses in Hoi2). Exemplified by the German retreat out of France, where they got baudly mauled by Allied air forces.

The problem lies in the way warfare is modeled in Hoi2, where full-blown retreats occur way too often. Battles consists of a couple of hours of actual combat where organization is lost quickly, followed by 2-3 days of retreating (which gives air forces lots of time to attack).

So even if air forces might not be unrealistic, the unrealistic amounts of enemy units always on retreat makes them overpowered.

Thank you, I'll look into it.

On the other hand, is there a way for me to mod the ground attack mission myself?
