If this video is somewhat correct, the native americans tech a lot faster and start with level 1 forts in all provinces, but there is of course less time to prepare for the europeans.

Taken from Eu3 mod MEIOU, how to make Mesoamerica feel more historical:

MEIOU's representation of the New World is messy. They lump together just about anyone. The Huastec and Mayans, two cultures that share the same language family but had very little contact in this period, are the same nation in MEIOU.

If this video is somewhat correct, the native americans tech a lot faster and start with level 1 forts in all provinces, but there is of course less time to prepare for the europeans.

That video actually suggests that Native Americans cannot tech at all. There's a 999 cap on monarch points, so if their tech costs are in the 2000 range, then they'll never get another tech level until they westernize.

It should technically be possible for Mesoamericans to put up a fight (if played by a human). Assuming monarch points don't cap out at < tech costs, you could conceivably stay reasonably up to date in a few areas- military tech for example. It could also be possible for you to get the first exploration idea (+1 colonist) and colonise some of the Americas, you aren't limited to being Christian as you were in EU3.

I'd say it's a massive improvement over EU3, although it'll probably still be difficult it shouldn't be a wipe. You've also got to consider that the major European advantage is gunpowder, and since that was brought to Europe from China, it'd be incredibly ahistorical for natives to have access to it making their days numbered without the help of a European ally.

I do wish they'd worked on the province borders and uncolonizable land though. Making the Amazon and the Great Plains unavailable sucks, and the province borders look like they were drawn by a drunk man.

Any addition to Africa and/or the Americas would require some sort of overhaul to the colonization mechanic, more likely than not. The problem, as it was in EUIII, was that adding in New World nations basically meant the Europeans had an even easier time getting inland.

For Africa, this meant the completely implausible scenario of Europeans colonizing the interior of Africa.

Yeah, here we have the problem what we prefer: An accurate start with historical african realms but with a less accurate progress of colonizing interior Africa or contrariwise.

Edit: My idea to prevent european colonization in Africa would be to increase the land-attrition of european armies in desert- or deep jungle-regions because of the climate and logistical disadvantages.
Also Paradox could twink the AI so its less interested on Africa and just try to get few coastel-colonies.

I'd prefer less or no uncolonized inland provinces in Americas and Africa. If these are really really neccessary, for trade and stuff, then maybe make inland bubbles surrounded by wasteland to keep the Danish away from Lake Chad and the Portuguese out of Dakota.
