any idea on how long to go until finished?

The reason i ask is that this is my first paradox game that i've been anticipating. I bought Doomsday on gamergate cause i was bored and thought it would be shit, but it turned out to be the best strategy game i've played in ages. Not long after i bought crusader kings and then the expansion and was again very happy. But all had been out for sometime and i was on the prowl again a few weeks ago looking for another paradox title and i stumbled across Rome.

Buy EU3.

six months to a year is my guess.

I hope its near the year or otherwise it won't really be done. It will probably be EU3 with a slap job character system.

I have the EU3 demo but it wont work. When i get to the menu i can move my mouse around but none of the buttons work so i cant click the options. Also, sometimes a coloured map of europe appears overlayered over the menu but this time i cant see anything let alone click the menu items. Once i managed to get into the singleplayer menu but then it froze and locked up again. My system is good and meets all the recommended requirements.

Windows XP
200 GB HDD

Or better yet, buy Victoria. There will be no hardware problems (if that is indeed your problem) running that. Plus its a fantastic game.

At the time I played the EU III demo my PC was something like that, with a worse gracard. Maybe its something with drivers or directx? (just a guess)

Try EUII(if you like a deep strategy game, colonization and tons of historical goodies) or Vicky with its expansion(if you like deep strategy game, 19th/early 20th century politics, economics and history)
Vicky is hard to learn because it requires some micromanagement, but once you get a hand of it the game becomes really fun, specially if like the economic aspect of the game which is why I reccomend getting the expansion as well, because it makes it more historical and realistic.

Vicky is excellent. It makes EU look like Starcraft.

Why are people so worried about the release date? PI has said that they've been working on this since spring IIRC, and with a release date of Q2 2008, that's more than enough time.

Yeah i forgot to mention, but i also recently bought vicky and the expansion. its good but challenging. But i'm learning alot about the industrial revolution. I like how you can can export your finished games into HoI2. How does that work though cause i havent reached 1936 yet.

Unfortunately it doesn't fully work. It creates a HOI2 map with the right borders, and creates some random-generated tech-teams, but it doesn't adjust your resources or manpower to match the Vicky stats, and revolters and releasable countries completely lacks leaders and tech-teams. If you play the WW1 scenario and stick to history, you might get an almost sane game, but usually the converted game is not playable.
