These are very niche aspects of the game. The combat and combat mechanics (air, navy, land) are very good, and this is the most important aspect of the game. Nobody buys HoI IV for peace conferences or spies, they buy it for the nation building role play and realistic WWII style combat experience. You nee to understand this.
Which is really why peace hasnt gotten a rewrite when looked at beside other features. Yes, I dont think they work super well, but most players have roughly 1 in a playthrough so its not that often. We'll eventuially get to it I would expect

I find it upsetting that the Pacific Theater wasn't really ever explored. I was hoping island hopping, guerilla warfare, naval invasions, the defense of Japan (i.e. making any invasion of Japan a colossal costly endeavor with the entire population resisting the invasions), and so on would have gotten more attention.
yeah its definitly an area that would be great to focus on I think.

My friend discovered how there were even supposed to be a unique naval invasion battle window than the standard ground battle window. But with unique tactics and phases.
hmm, while I remember thinking about this during development I dont think we even made a test version

As for HOI5, I expect that to happen some day - we always plan ideas for our sequels, but I also feel there is more to be done on the game. Does stuff take longer to do the more stuff is in the game? yes, but thats just the nature of complex games and not a great reason to make a sequel. A sequel should be able to deliver something new and different.
