title asks it all; Is there a method to get the best education possible, like something with guardians as before or is it completely random?
Any controllable ways of getting good education?

I am not an expert on the new education system but I once had a genius character and nearly all of my 10 children got the best education outcome in every discipline.
Without Conclave you basiclly stick them on whoever has the stats you desire.
With Conclave and Way of Life active stats are primarily gained through focuses. The fertility booster focuses basically give you no permanent stats.
So you either pick a large family or a smaller one that is better educated owing to your stat focuses.

WIth Conclave if the educator has +12 in a skill, it increases the chance of them getting good traits, Including Education traits (amateurish plotter, Brilliant Strategist, etc)
The final education level is randomly generated upon reaching adulthood. There may be some weight, but you can get anywhere from 1~4 if you keep reloading. They also might get a "wrong" education trait, but that rarely happens and I'm not sure if that's still possible now.
