Honestly, I was never happy with the Irish mission tree when it was launched in Rule Britannia. Fundamentally it was just free claims that would have been given with a generic tree and there was no reference to the genuine political upheaval that occurred in Ireland at the start of the period.
I know, many don't want too much effort placed on Ireland given that IRL Irish "tags" didn't survive beyond the battle of Kinsale in 1601. But I think that would ignore the amount of time and effort that England had to invest in Ireland protecting her western flank. One campaign to subdue the Irish in the nine years war cost England 16,000 men and at that could only secure a humiliating peace for Queen Elizabeth II. Admittedly, at this stage, the Irish were more confederated, but there was a reason why it took 400 years from the initial conquest to secure the subjugation of the whole country.
I would especially love to see "kingdom of Ireland" and "surrender and regrant" missions for England in Ireland, to reflect the fact that it was initially very difficult for the crown to vassalise Irish lords. I would also love to see Irish missions modelling the Fitzgerald, Desmond and Tyrone rebellions, the later very nearly overthrowing English rule in Ireland. Furthermore, various contacts with the Pope, Spain and Scotland (as well as mercenary contacts) could also easily be modelled with such a broad system. Even the Irish confederacy of the 17th century could be modelled through missions. I'd also love to see various Irish based crises reflected, such as Richard the Duke of York as Lord Lieutenant, the Rebellions of 1641 and 1798.
I don't want to appear to be asking too much but given the expansion and reivision of mission trees over the past few patches, I thought it might be something worth considering.,
