Any chance Rome can be considered for the new westernization decision?

In the 15th century, Rome became the seat of the Italian renaissance, seeing the construction of such buildings as the Sistine Chapel, the Ponte Sisto, and the Piazza Navona, as well as being the patron to such artists as Michelangelo, Perugino, Raphael, Ghirlandaio, Luca Signorelli, Botticelli, and Cosimo Rosselli. It would also be nice to have access to this decision through the through the Mediterranean, so the Byzantines might have a target to shoot for without necessarily going after Austria.

Edit: Firenze would also be an ideal (perhaps even superior) choice as the starting place of the Italian Renaissance (edit: instead of Rome).

I'd also like to see this decision added to Muslim tech group. It would add incentive to gun for the harder targets in Europe instead of going for the easier RotW first.

I don't think it should necessarily be Rome, for balance sake (and because it was never *the* seat of the Renaissance, but one of many). That said, I think that some Italian province should qualify, preferably one inland. Perhaps Milan?

Now that you mention it, yeah. Rome would become the most important province in the game by far between the triggered modifier, westernization potential and development.

that makes the decision pretty easy though - aquire some western core, and pour points into it until you can westernise - cheaper than westernising the normal way anyways.

im all for adding firenze/rome. even danzig is allowed. heck, i'd go as far as to add barcelona/madrid/lisboa as an target for muslims as well. even if not free, then at least a cheaper westernisation, simulating the once more reversed (re)conquista

I love it when people talk about the Renaissance as if it was something tangible as a peace of clothing. No one city was 'the renaissance' as any one moment. It was only dubbed 'the renaissance' later in history to encapsulate a period of time for easier reference.

I doubt if you were to travel back in time and ask any commoner back then, they wouldn't say "Oh yeah, this is the renaissance." It was still an interesting time and period, but only for a *very* select few.

Anyhow, realism doesn't matter. Game play and balance does. Having Rome be a target is too easy since the Papacy is a joke in the AI's hands. Unless they change the way the Papacy works (ie: any heathen that attacks them can give any catholic nation reason to defend them), then it is a bad idea.

Yeah something at least until the Crusades end. Just doesn't make sense that a Crusade can be called for the faith, yet you can't defend the center of faith?
