Most of its bugfixing, and three major additions:

- The High Kingdom system is completely overhauled, its a lot more intuitive now and also it significantly improves performance
- Heresies are more or less completely removed (only a few historically important ones are left) and are replaced with Daedric cults instead
- A complete overhaul of units and combat tactics

You should check the Holy sites for Meridia and the addition of Molag Bal as enemy, plus the change to the mesoamerican graphic set.

Thanks for this so far, but could we get something a bit more detailed? Especially the new religion system seems very intriguing, but I have some questions about it:

- What religions are out? IIRC, you said some unused religions will be cut, it would be nice if we could get some names. For example, the Necromancer Cult and the Sithis religion don't seem to be that important (although they do randomly pop up on rulers), but it would be a shame to seem them gone.
- What are the changes to the Daedric cults? Are they going the be improved/overhauled (like possible reformation, holy sites, heads of religion, pilgrimages etc.) or are they replaced/changed into something else?
- Any new holy orders?
- Not related to the religion system, but I've seen that with the new beta patch, a modding command was added that let's you change a characters portrait gfx. Will we see this in the new patch (Lichdom changing you into a undead?)

The list of removed religions: Arcturian, Nudri-hi, Ebonarm, Maloocian, Apologist, The Beautiful, Pact Breaker, Pact Fundamentalist, Sixth House, Reclamationist Lessons, Nirnian, Topalish, Hist Saplings, Rogue Hist, Spirits Worship, Ancestor Cult, Crimson Scars, New Hand, Anu, Void Anuiel, Miraak, Glenmorial, Nightingales

The Anuic_Religions religion group was also removed, with anuic_skaal moved to Atmoran pantheon.

I doubt I can answer this question in full, but one of the big changes is that, instead of heresies, daedric cults will be popping up in provinces instead.

Not at the moment.

Probably not, unless 0.1.6 is delayed significantly. General rule of thumb is that an EK patch is going to be designed around changes made in the previous CK2 patch. For example, the unit/tactic overhaul is a reaction to the new special unit system that was added in the previous CK2 patch. A lot of it is that it takes a LOT of time and testing to properly impliment something, and we generally want to get compatability patches out ASAP.

With the tactics and units overhaul, what new special units are getting added?

Not much. Pikemen are being moved from normal units to special units, Mages are being split into two units, normal mages which are a Pikemen repacement and represent a vast majority of spellcasters, and Sorcerers (name may change) which represent the higher level mages. Two new special units being added are Dragons and Numidium, but the events/decisions for acquiring them may not be finished in time.

There is plans down the road of possibly adding a special unit for every race.

Wouldn't battlemages be a better name, since they're magic users that are specifically trained for battle?

They were initially named battlemages, but then changed to sorcerers after a lively discussion, and I am leaning towards renaming them again to archmages.

Aren't Archmages the absolute best mage leaders? I think Battlemage or Mage is best.
In any case, I'm really sad to see Sixth House (Needed it for the Almsivi Dagoth Ur event I am making) and Anuic Religion removed, as I liked to play as a follower of Anu, plus it was an interesting counterpart to the Void religion.
Not happy with that.

Not happy with that.

There's not a lot of people working on new religious content (me), so superfluous religions have been cut. The Skaal specific Anuic religion hasn't been cut, it's been moved to a different group, but the other unused ones (that were used neither in events, nor history files; they appeared only in the religious file) have been removed.

If you want to work on additional religious content as Magnus is doing here, when I have time I can review it and perhaps look to integrating it into the main mod.

Well, For now I can make holy sites and basic stuff I did with Meridia's religion.
Then I'll look about Pilgrimages and such.

The Sixth House religion was needed for Dagoth Ur's emergence, as it'd be the religion of his General (Having Dagoth Ur as a character would be like having Almsivi as characters, so I held off on that)
And he can spread it in things he captures. It would likewise be fleshed out.

Kind of sad to see the Apologist heresy going away, it almost made elves tolerable...almost.

Well certain things are going to reappear in other forms. Pact Breaker for example is going to appear as a form of Bosmer excommunication, very bad if you're a Bosmer of the Green Pact religion. "Apologist" may appear as a trait similar to the sympathy traits in vanilla, I haven't thought much on that yet though as I'm still working on the Cult System.

How will the Cult system works?
As some Cults are drastically different in their intent, their morality, and their alignment.
Meridia's Cult would be seen as vastly beneficial compared to Molag Bal or Mehrunes Dagon, she's not even Padomaic.
And Azura would possibly also be seen as a beneficial entity in some cases. Wayrest even tolerates Azuran followers.
